Looking forward to how he grows offensively during the season. Defensively, he can even get BETTER and that should be scary for those playing against him. I love how players already on the court are less reluctant to take some shots with him around.

Stud. Untouchable. Going to be an absolute delight to watch all year, regardlsss of everything else.
You’re right. The Cavs are not gonna be good this year…that much is clear. It will be fun watching Mobley develop, however, and he should give us several wow plays a game.

I remember not so long ago, watching LeBron's first summer league, preseason and then regular season game and feeling confident that his one already elite skill (passing) would be the springboard he would need to find footing and develop everything else at this level.

Same thing here with Mobleys defensive instincts.

It is so elite that it manifests itself as steals, blocks, altered shots and whatever metric you can measure that impacts opposing teams offense.

Chris Bosh had these faceup guard skills from day one, Anthony Davis had these weakside defensive blocks and off ball rim protection skills, Jokic had this uncanny passing ability, Amar'e and Kemp had this unmatched quick twitch/elevation with power, Barkley and Rodman from day one were tactical rebounders, KG had this psychopathic intensity...

In each case, a still developing big man that can impact the game even with a single elite skill at this age, has the potential to truly be great.

We've got our franchise guy and this time the cupboard isn't bare around him

He will be a better defender in the NBA than in college. The NBA is much more open and Mobley is a weakside, help type defender. With his length and high end athletic ability, you will see Mobley constantly help off the ball. But make no mistake, Mobley is a pf, doesnt have anywhere close to the strength to defend most centers in the league.

And right now it will be tough offensively between Allen and Mobley as Allen is what he is offensively and Mobley needs to continue to work on his offensive game.

Anyone think that maybe we should start Lauri at Center? Is Lauri strong enough. Honestly i have not watched a ton of Markkanen and not sure if he can play center, but it would work really well offensively.

Who would your starting 5 be? I am starting to think about Markkaden instead of Allen for now. Am I crazy playing Lauri at the 5? If we had a real starting caliber sf I would move Sexton to the bench to give that elite scoring punch where his ball stop tendencies wouldnt be as bad either, but i dont know who our starting sf would be, and we would need another shooter. (I still think Ingram is perfect on this team and would give up allot to get him, basically Garland and Mobley are the only 2 untouchable)

If anyone ends up rewatching the game I would be curious if Mobley’s block count was off. I swear he had at least 4.

Yeah it is hard to take the 2 seriously. He is getting some finger tips on stuff that isn't being called. Cavs keep track of deflections. I would love to see what it says. I bet he had 7 or more defections. Whether you want to call them blocks is open to interpretation.

His timing is so good. He seems like he could average 3 blocks a game. Elite timing, elite jump speed, elite length.

Unless he starts to look better, Lauri looks like the worst defender on the team. I'd say worse than advertised. I don't think he can play center at all. I hope he is just rusty and unfamiliar with the system.

I cant get the preseason games and i really didnt watch a ton of Markkaden in Chicago, so i just dont know, but his offense would be a nice balance.

I think Allen is a necessity to start, because Mobley can't be banging with those big guys yet. Putting him on a more limited backup 5 like a Dieng is fine, but having him up against the starting C for 30 mins a game would just grind him down I think. And there's no way Lauri can do it for us.

I kind of like running Mobley with Love and Rubio on the backup unit for good stretches, feels like their high IQ will help him unlock his offense a bit while he can cover for their mistakes.

I initially hoped Mobley might somehow magically be our coveted wing, but now I’m dreaming of him (eventually) manning the 5. It would give us sooo many options.

Yea he's been pretty bad these two pre-season games.
