I initially hoped Mobley might somehow magically be our coveted wing, but now I’m dreaming of him (eventually) manning the 5. It would give us sooo many options.

My fear is Mobley never gets strong enough to play the 5. I dont think its a huge deal, he has the skills to become the best pf in the league, and i will take that any day of the week, but we will see. He is very young and lanky, so he just needs the Kevin Garnette workout program, lol.

I cant get the preseason games and i really didnt watch a ton of Markkaden in Chicago, so i just dont know, but his offense would be a nice balance.

They have paired Lauri and Love at some points and it seems to be the worst combo we have seen. Love doesn't even look like the worst link.

I wasn't sure what it was, but I think Lauri has terrible foot work. Like his feet aren't in position and it means he gets pushed around even by smaller guys.

He did ok using verticality on smaller guys penetrating, but it looks like he can be moved by any big.

He had a good year last year, and he was still a -3 apparently. So, I guess this is what we have to work with

You think Mobley can guard the 2 and 3?

Giannis doesnt become the player he is today if Jason Kidd did not play him at PG and SG on both ends in those early formative years

Marcus Camby played 3 defensively in alot of those Knicks lineups where he came off the bench for whoever picked up fouls from the frontcourt for JVG

I believe you start him at 3 with Lauri spacing the floor on offense and you use his length, instincts and agility to wreck havoc as a roamer who has elite shot blocking and passing lane interrupting ability. He's shown how quickly he can recover when smaller speedy guys compromise him from the perimeter. His length makes guys not even consider taking a shot even when they know they are by him.

Yes, start him at the 3 with Allen guarding the rim behind him and tell Lauri to just keep a guy in front of him until one of those two guys can have his back

What I'm reading is that we should put Mobley at the 1 and run a 5 center lineup?

Someone get Koby on the phone.

Defensively yeah we saw he was elite. But I want to focus on two offensive plays that had me with Googly eyes.

1. From near the 3 pt line…the single dribble into the backdown with a couple dribbles into a fluid spin move into a dunk on his defenders face.

2. Getting the ball swung to him outside the arc, having a wide open lane, calmly dribbling towards the rim where a couple guys would have been waiting for a charge or a big collision at the rim….he sees the open shooter because he’s got good vision…and because he can handle the ball and control his body at the same time he does a sick dirty nasty fake that made those paint defenders look absolutely ridiculous and parted the entire Red Sea and he smoothly glided in for a finger roll….

he showed so many facets of his skill set on those two plays…

he can dribble. He can pass. He has body control. He can see the entire floor over the defense. He has quick twitch instincts. He has power dunks but he also has finesse moves.

the jumper will come gradually. But it will come as the game slows down for him and he puts in the consistent work in over time on it.

power, finesse, length, vision, hands, touch, straight nasty hops. His second jump is so quick and he gets so much air…he’s got pogo stick legs l. He gets his hands on everything it seems. He already instinctively knows defensive positioning and when it comes to 1 on 1 nobody is doing a damned thing against him.

Just can’t wait for the next game. Him and Sexton have better chemistry in practice but Allen also plays against them instead of being on the same side in practice so maybe that’s why we haven’t seen much of it yet. but I do like the twin towers thing we have going on occasionally. They can dominate the paint for stretches..but gotta have the perimeter guarded when they’re together doing their thing.

Anyway I love Mobley and can’t wait for game 3

Until Mobley starts taking and making shots in the NBA, I'll basically have to consider him a non-shooter. You cannot play two non-shooters at the same time these days.

So who is your starting 5? Because if Mobley is a non shooter, you bring in Markkaden and Love for Allen? Are you starting Wade? Or do you keep Allen starting and bench Okoro? Is cedi a shooter? Windler isnt a shooter under your guidelines, so who is your starting SF?

Or maybe, and just maybe, we have an incomplete roster, some young players you are trying to develop, so you dont worry about the stupid rule you just made up and you have an incomplete starting 5 because you have an incomplete roster.

Mobley is definitely not a “non shooter”. He has enough of a resume to show he has at least potential to be a solid shooter and enters the league very far from a Ben Simmons level of “non shooter”.
