One of my favorite stash candidates, Travers played in the G League Elite Camp and showed enough feel as a passer and secondary ballhandler to think he can make it if his shot straightens out. To this point that’s been the biggest hold-up in him turning into a Joe Ingles-type distributor from the forward spot, because Travers can put it on the deck with either hand and make plays off the dribble. He also rocks a glorious blond mullet straight out of a 1984 Ratt video, which makes every play twice as impressive.

A 6-8 guard with a 6-10 wingspan and strong all-around versatility, Travers played all over the floor for Perth the past few seasons, sliding from the point guard to small forward positions on both ends of the floor. Travers' slight frame, funky shooting mechanics and average quickness/explosiveness are things he'll have to improve on in the Australian NBL to position himself as a more immediate NBA candidate, but he is an excellent all-around basketball player, a lock to become a national team player for the Boomers and will likely get a chance to show his game translates down the road.

Cavs obviously wanted to not burn a roster spot here, which is why they went with Travers.. I don't know much about Travers, so hard for me to comment on this pick.. My only point of contention is not electing to go for a two-way player such as Julian Champagnie, Keon Ellis, Jean Montero, etc., here instead..
Travers is still young but this seems like a pick destined to spend two to three more years in Australia or other leagues before coming over (perhaps even the G-League), and being able to produce anything of note on an NBA roster.. I wouldn't be surprised if his biggest contribution is a traded drafted rights player to include in a deal down the road...
