Welcome Mfiondu Kabengele

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I still don’t see it. I know he has length, I know he supposedly has a 3 because he takes them a lot but whenever I watch he’s not good

He is athletic and strong as hell, but he is a 6'9 center with long arms, length isnt what he has.

He hustles, shoots the 3 a bit over 30% for a big, not good, not bad.

He is a vet min backup or 3rd string center. He will play his role fine. He sets a good screen, hustles, rebounds and plays defense. He will never be a starter outside of emergency in the NBA, not all summer league players are future stars, in fact most arent even future NBA players. Kabengele is a viable back of the roster NBA player, but nothing more.

I liked what I saw from him yesterday with that in mind. More than what I saw last season to be honest.

I guess our depth at Center is

JA/Love/Kabengele?

He's defensively engaged. Does he have any offensive upside? His college tape looks so good. I don't really understand why he hasn't developed at all.

He can shoot the 3, maybe eventually 35 which is fine. I havent seen any post moves, for sure cant handle the ball, dont see much passing game either.

He depth, a break glass in case of emergency type. We had allot of injuries last year, so he played. We actually drafted a big 3rd overall, so he is down the depth chart. Honestly, I liked Hartenstein, but I cant get to worked up one way or the other on a 3rd string center, Hartenstein or Kabengele.

No, only upside I see is good defense, beast on boards, can hit an open shot...sort of.

I think it is mental confidence and opportunity. When he was with Florida State, he came off the bench but he led the team in scoring in his sophomore season. Their team’s strategy was to give him the ball and give him plays for pick and pop and he even looked to score on the perimeter when he came as first man off the bench. He has his hands up ready to get the ball to shoot from outside. You rarely see that in him in today’s nba of him. I can see why the organization really likes him and if the coaches are telling him to shoot and look to shoot, I think he can get his confidence back. Better yet, he is a great defender, good at helping, contest shots, and is physical to get rebounds. Maybe he is one of those big men that needs a couple years to develop

This is one of those examples of an organization having pre-draft workouts on someone they didn't pick but know already. He impressed the Cavs in his 2019 pre-draft workout and I am sure they kept an eye on him. Hoping he does good. Nephew of Dikembe Mutombo.

He looks like and NBA player to me. Yeah, I can see why if you rode the bench for 2 years for a contender how you might lose confidence. As a backup C if he can provide rim protection he can stay on the court. Just keep hoisting and maybe he has a spot.

My dream for this team is that everyone just starts chucking 3s and the floor opens up for Okoro, Allen, Mobley and Sexton.

Seems like a nice guy, always has a smile. Plays below the rim as a big and is just not good

He's played worse with each game so far. Doesn't look to have any NBA level skills and his decision making is not good enough to do anything other than hand the ball off. They've featured him a lot, maybe just because there's no one else with his size to play the role.

I thought he looked better in actual games, but I think we are seeing why the clips gave up on him

it's admiral that there were 5 pages devoted to Kabengele.
So long, your fearlessness to shoot horrible shots and be lost on both ends will not be forgotten.

Showed me basically 0 since I posted this.

He was a menace in college. Was just a bully and a guy that could score easily. It's always amazing to me how much of a level up the NBA is. It's like 10+ levels up. Equivalent to Super Mario Brothers vs the Lost Levels. The Japanese Mario 2 that was deemed too hard for American Audiences.

Never got a fair shake for this coach. With all the struggles to find a reliable SF they could have at least gave him some run in the preseason there. He played it in college some and is plenty athletic. But his shot has not been falling and never had much handles so I guess it is not surprise with the current log jam in the 4-5 room. Still would have rather kept in house and let Tacko walk
