Welcome Ochai Agbaji from the future

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No sleep happens when @Lee and a D are involved...
We need 3 and D, not @Lee and D. At least for the draft pick. It’s all the Mod’s fault. Changed the title from “Stop sleeping on the guy for the Cavaliers” to “Stop sleeping with this guy.” Now we’re drafting him for sure and he’ll end up 6’ 4 1/2” - short, like a lot of our players and @Lee’s D (allegedly).

2 inches of D and 200lbs of ass to slam it home with.

I hope we get him. Much better shooter than LeVert and after next year we don't HAVE to resign LeVert and can hope Agbaji takes that next step.
This is we’re I chuckle sometimes, when we compare a college player to a established veteran player, like LeVert and say he might be better ……If LeVert was playing for Kansas this year , he would have been look at as a can’t miss prospect…..Some of the things that LeVert done just this year Ogbaji might never achieve in the NBA,…I watch him single hand beat the Lakers with LeBron playing this year, or scoring 50 points in one game this year, Can’t wait to see LeVert get acclimated with this team over the fall ……Now in comparison he could match Okoro offensive game almost immediately, but on defense, he could be lost…

@Lee likes 3 D's at the same time...does that count?

I just like making you wear the funny glassed and hitting you in the forehead with my D and leaving a giant mushroom print....calling it my 3 D.

This is where I chuckle often, when someone completely misinterprets a post to further a point that has nothing to do with the actual discussion.

LeVert is 27 years old, of course he would have been dominant at Kansas. What a silly thought that is but thank god you decided to put that thought into writing so we could all enjoy it together.

My entire point is that:

A.) Agbaji fits a need here with his outside shooting. I am a fan of LeVert but his outside shooting has not been reliable/consistent in the NBA.

B.) Agbaji is old enough to be closer to 'ready now' than most players that are drafted and

C.) Is similar size to LeVert so IF we spend money elsewhere and Agbaji takes that next step (as outlined in original post) then that means we don't HAVE to re-sign LeVert after next season.

I like LeVert. I'm not saying we should get rid of LeVert or we have to get rid of him. My point is clear, don't misinterpret it for something else.

I’m a big big fan of Agbaji.

He may only be 6’5…6’6 in shoes. So is Matisse Thybulle. He’s actually got a similar physical profile to Thybulle. We should get some more official measurements at the combine if he even participates…a lot of guys slated to go in the lotto aren’t even going to the combine anymore.

But we know already that hes got a standing reach of about 8’7.5 and he’s got a 6’10 wingspan those are great measurements. For example Okoros standing reach is like 8’4 and hes only got a 6’8 wingspan. Agbaji has the physical profile to play the 3.

Elite shooter. High volume. Elite off-ball player, just knows how to work around and get himself open. Something this team desperately needs from the perimeter. Our off-ball players just don’t quite have that sklllset. While I don’t project him as a guy who is going to create a ton of offense for others off the bounce, he’s certainly competent enough with the ball in his hands to attack close outs, to create space in a tight situation. He’s a guy that can get to the cup a little, but not great at it, he can competently get to a spot and pull up, great shooter but not the best there ever was at getting to the spot. But I really don’t need him to be amazing at those things. I really don’t. I need him to be competent in case of an emergency so we don’t have him dribbling away from the hoop somehow into multiple defenders and then popping it off his foot…(sound familiar?). And he is. But his most important offensive skill is to give our playmakers targets.

I know he can shoot, he clearly knows how to play defense, he has the physical profile to check guards and wings, he excels off the ball and works constantly to get open and create passing lanes for ball handlers. Put him next to a 10+ assist guy likely in Garland. A secondary creator like LeVert. A high post/elbow big like Mobley who has great vision and could become a dominant offensive force as soon as next year…And an really effective low post player that is also willing passer like Allen. He gives Sexton a bailout target and hopefully he’s an improved playmaker after a year of watching the game from a different perspective and staying connected with JBB and the organization.

Love is a great passer and loves a two man game with a good shooter because they can wreak havoc like him and Osman did at times. Rubio would absolutely adore the kid and the way he moves without the ball. Even Osman himself can make plays. Lauri ain’t passing that shit but he will definitely help Lauri in terms of taking a lot of the defensive load off of his plate.

He seems to be an efficient player. I know there’s some models that are down on him but I’ve been watching his tape and I fucking love the guy. I think he’s as close to a sure thing as the draft has. We could win games with him. He’s a winner. He’s a big game performer.

I just think Ochai a great fit, a much needed piece. If he’s there at 14 he’s my pick as it stands today.

Drafting older wings basically never works. Bey is an outlier and had better stats than Agbaji. I'm open to him, but highly skeptical. We are able to draft someone younger who could work on his game and refine it in the NBA instead of college like Agbaji.

As Mr Mister once said.

So take these older wings
and learn to drive again, learn to dish and score so free
and when you hear the voices sing
the lane with Love will open up and let you in

I mean its solid drafting advice even if its almost 40 years old.

Guy is 6’5” with a 6’10” wingspan and has guarded every position on the floor like Scottie Barnes did at FSU makes him intriguing . Unlike Okoro , Agbaji doesn’t need a couple years to develop his shot . Love Eason but this guy fills an immediate need even though he is really old at 21 lol. I’m never for drafting need in any Sport but this guy checks all the boxes the Cavz FO desires in a prospect. My guess is Abaji is the player the FO wants if they keep the pick at 14

Khris Middleton
Jimmy Butler
Norman Powell
Pascal Siakam
Caris LeVert
Josh Hart
Cam Johnson
Desmond Bane
Matisse Thuybull
Grant Williams

That’s over a large stretch of drafts but when you consider the hit rate outside the top12 overall, there are contributors to be had amongst 3 and 4 year college wings
