What Will the Next Cleveland Contender Look Like?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This Team has been No-Hit twice in a month. They are not contending for anything accept the biggest losers of the 2021 Season. Dolan is a liar who refuses to spend money and only someone who accepts losing makes excuses for him. They have the money to go get Major League Talent and none of these players out side of Jose and Bieber should be on a major league roster. Reyes is not consistent enough. Stop accepting the lies of Dolan and Terry does not want to win either or he would be calling ownership out and the front office.

Karinchak and Plesac shouldn't be on a major league roster? Aren't the Indians in first place?

I will agree that Dolan is a cheap mofo.

Looking for the next contender kinda infers that we aren't contenders now.

Perhaps the question is what the continuation of contention will look like.
Yeah I don't get it either CATS. I think you have a bit more confidence in this squad than I, but an addition or 2 could put us way over the top. A couple of guys that are struggling right now "righting the ship" would do the same. I just don't get how folks fail to see the solid foundation this team currently has and there's a shit ton of talent coming. You and I disagree on many things, but not this thing.

Well, this is probably the dumbest post in a while. Congrats?

Your name appears to have taken the irony crown.

Yes indeed there's a bunch of talent waiting in the wings. The farm quartet swept the board yet again tonight and none of the games were even close. 14-2 now.

Scott Moss was really good in his return and I'm thinking he's gonna be replacing Hentges pretty soon. Owen Miller playing first base was 3-4 with a walk and is now hitting 467.

I doubt Moss is called up for another week or more..
Tonight was only his 2nd outing since returning from injury. Tonight over 4 IP it was a total of 51 pitches (32 strikes)

I recall hearing on the Tribe broadcast during the past week that CLE Mgmt/ Tito really want the starter to be capable of going 75-80 pitches in order to get regular turns in the rotation.

Moss might get called up to replace Hentges eventually but I would be stunned of its for next weekend (the next Hentges spot after Sunday 5/9/21)

Oh I agree. When I said pretty soon I meant in a couple weeks or so. But how encouraging was that start? Moss has put up excellent numbers in the minors over the past few seasons. People are enamored with 97 mile an hour fastballs. I like 91 mile an hour fastballs from people who know how to pitch.

...imagine a 97 mph fastball from a pitcher that knows how to pitch?..

one isn't exclusive to the other..

I really thought might have had a shot at opening in the rotation, but was hurt.

Not the favorite, ahead of Quantrill and Allen, but a shot.

I thought his best shot was to end up the #6...first guy called up.

All around, he seems like an anomaly. Not known as a strike out guy, but he strikes batters out. A fairly high fly ball rate, but doesn't give up dingers. Before last year, he consistently started 25 games a season for 130 IP. Once ramped up...and if he was good enough...he might be able to go the distance the rest of the way.

And he is a 2016 fourth rounder. On this team, that's gotta mean something...lol.

Results don't always translate to MLB, but his are kinda hard to ignore. Imagine what they might look like, if his control improved.

It isn't that I don't like the other options...Allen, Quantrill, Hentges, Morgan, and Mejia...but Moss may be in the best situation to help right now.

and as long as Hentges gets the starts, its his spot to hang on to

Yessir...Sam Hentges. The guy who posted a 2-13 record, a 5.12 ERA and a WHIP of 1.69 2 years ago in double AA.

Hentges... Moss... Hentges... Moss... potato... potato...

I think both guys are more than likely going to end up in the bullpen.
