Wrong fan banned

My guess would be they took the location of the guy's seat and then banned whoever holds the season tickets. I'm assuming the guy sold them since he had another engagement, but the Browns wouldn't have known that.

Of course, it's up to them to make it right. I assume they will and this will become yet another non-story.

You might be right, but they banned a random, innocent ginger with a beard and the fan in question was a ginger with a beard. In any event, it's pretty irresponsible to indefinitely ban a ticketholder when the NFL itself facilitates secondary ticket sales. Now, if they can somehow gather data from the phone that scanned the seat, then there's an actual basis for where to start an investigation. That still falls short of being grounds for unilaterally banning someone without them being able to tell you where they actually were at the time.

I hope you're right that it's a non-story soon. I'm ready to let it go, but I'm still curious as to what the Browns did/were thinking.

The opposing team jumps into the crowd and doesn't like the outcome? Then those players complain about the outcome of the thing they shouldn't have been doing in the first place? Is this the same as suing a zoo for when your family member dies after jumping into the lion's den? Are lions to blame for protecting their territory? Or is shooting them onsite regardless of who was at fault the proper way to go about this? A more proper response is to give the lion an extra steak for defending their territory. Not rewarding the idiots who jumped into the lion's den.

To run with this comparison, I would hope our bar is set higher than "behaving like a zoo lion" but maybe not.

I agree, but where does that line end? Should they (any players) be allowed to come in the stands and do what they want (aka. dancing/taunts)? There's a bit of common sense here and I'll side with the NBA. The players should not be going into the stands for any reason. We're also talking about a small bit of beer here. This wasn't 'Malice at the Palace'. The player's tweet paints himself as the victim when he shouldn't have been doing what he was doing in the first place. In olden times we'd expect the professionals to act like professionals.

Nope.

Pretty easy.

Additionally, he didn't paint himself as the victim, he was speaking up for his teammates. So there is no need to create a straw man to argue against, we can just judge this on the facts.

Those facts are:
1, Fan was wrong
2. Logan Ryan was not wrong to defend his teammates or speak on it.
3. Browns and NFL working together to ban the fan.

Good lesson, be more decent at games. Players are not animals, don't treat them as such. Not sure why we can't all agree on that, but I guess that's just what society is at this point.

Browns gonna Brown. Here is what i dont get- dont all tickets now go through the app? So shouldnt the Browns know exactly who bought that seat by looking at the Ticketmaster records? Even if he bought the ticket aftermarket he still needs a Ticketmaster acct.

Oh... in my book the fans are the animals. I thought I made that clear with the analogy.

I mean, gosh, you have a million dollar plus career at stake and you want to risk it by showboating in the opposing team's stands? Why can't all players celebrate like Barry Sanders?

Once again, there is no rule against what the Titans did, despite any comments to the contrary.

While I'm sure the wish is that all players are Barry Sanders, life doesn't quite work that way.

In any event, the facts are what they are here.

Joe Thomas does keep saying on Twitter and the thomahawk podcast that it is against nfl rules to do that. I'm assuming that's where a lot of people are getting it from.

It's illegal to go, like, over the wall and be in the stands. Also illegal to jump into the Salvation Army kettle, thanks Zeke.

But things like the Lambeau Leap, regardless of home or road, with no malicious intent, are not illegal.

Which is why none of the Titans players were fined.
