WWE/NXT/AEW/NJPW Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
First episode of Collision couldn’t have gone off much better.

Every segment and match was a hit, and the United Center crowd was crazy.

It was good to see guys like Miro and Andrade back for sure. Punk seems like he’s lost another step or two in the ring though.

Never liked Punk, like him even less now.

Hope he gets tired and goes away soon.

Same. He reminds me of the kid who cried his eyes out when he struck out. Thought he was better than he actually was and used his mouth to make himself sound superior and relevant.
He didn’t fool Vince or anyone else in WWE.

Zero Hour: Stu Grayson vs El Phantasmo
Back story
ELP was kicked out of Bullet Club back in April, and I believe he is currently a free agent. Wouldn't be surprised to see him work more AEW dates moving forward. Grayson seems to be getting a singles push in ROH right now so I'll go with him to win this one.

Prediction
Stu Grayson

Zero Hour: Mogul Embassy vs Roppongi Vice and El Desperado
Back story
Roppongi Vice and El Desperado are members of NJPW's CHAOS stable which is led by Okada (started by Nakamura). Mogul Embassay is an AEW fixture, and Swerve needs the win. Going with the Embassy here.

Prediction
Mogul Embassy

Zero Hour: United Empire vs LIJ
Back story
Ospreay's stable (Cobb, Fletcher, TJP) vs Naito's stable (Takagi, Bushi, Takahashi). I'm a big Kyle Fletcher fan, so I'm going with UE in this one.

Prediction
United Empire

Zero Hour: Athena vs Billie Starkz - Owen Hart Cup Tournament
Back story
Athena hasn’t been seen much on AEW television lately, but has been killing it as ROH Women’s Champ. Billie Starkz is one of the hottest up-and-coming talents on the women’s side, and she just graduated high school. This should highlight both women, but the new vicious Athena will come out on top.

Prediction
Athena

MJF (c) vs Hiroshi Tanahashi - AEW World Championship
Back story
For years, MJF has talked down on NJPW and claimed he would refuse to defend his title against anybody from there. They even announced that this would open the show per MJF's request so that he "wouldn't have to stick around and watch a bunch of randos from a Japanese indie fed wrestle".

Tanahashi is a little past his prime, but he’s a legend in NJPW, which makes a lot of sense for him to be MJF’s opponent.

I expect MJF to be pushed to his limit, but to ultimately come out on top here.

Prediction
MJF

CM Punk vs Satoshi Kojima - Owen Hart Cup Tournament
Back story
Punk’s first singles match since returning last weekend will be a part of the Owen Cup. There’s not much backstory to this one. They tried to get KENTA for this match, but it sounds like KENTA turned it down.

Punk isn’t losing this one. Still, I’m interested to see how the bracket for the Owen Cup plays out. I think we either get Punk/Starks or Punk/Juice in the finals to either set up a heel turn for Punk against Starks or a feud with BC Gold.

Prediction
CM Punk

Adam Cole vs Tom Lawlor
Back story
This was the last match added to the card. Cole has been feuding with MJF, and after goading MJF into accepting his match with Tanahashi, MJF took it upon himself to find a match for Cole at this event as well.

Cole will win this one as he is being built up to be MJF’s next big challenger.

Prediction
Adam Cole

Le Suzuki Gods vs Sting, Darby Allin, and TBA
Back story
Darby and Sammy have been interacting a lot in recent months as they were both a part of the four pillars title match at DoN. This experience has led to a teased face turn for Guevara. However, he is still a part of the Jericho Appreciation Society. Darby has encouraged him to leave which led to Jericho throwing down this challenge.

They are announcing Sting and Darby’s partner tonight on Collision, and I’m optimistically hoping it will be Naito, who has extensive history battling with Jericho.

I think Team Sting comes away with the win as the tension continues to build between Sammy and Jericho.

Prediction
Sting, Darby Allin, and TBA (Naito)

Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Katsuyori Shibata vs. Daniel Garcia - AEW International Championship
Back story
This has a chance to be my own personal MOTN.

ZSJ is currently the NJPW TV Champ and recently challenged OC, Shibata is ROH Pure Champ, and Garcia has been chasing both Shibata and OC for their titles recently.

They had an OC/Shibata vs ZSJ/Garcia tag match this past week on Dynamite that ended with Garcia pinning Shibata after OC missed his mark with the Orange Ounch and clocked his own partner.

Prediction
Orange Cassidy

Toni Storm (c) vs Willow Nightingale - AEW Women’s World Championship
Back story
Since winning the title at DoN, Toni has been tearing through the homegrown talent in AEW. Willow came into AEW as an enhancement talent and has quickly built herself up among the fans. She also recently defeated Mercedes Mone (FKA Sasha Banks) to become the inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Championship.

Toni will still win this one though.

Prediction
Toni Storm

BCC, Takeshita, and Shota Umino vs The Elite, Eddie Kingston, and Tomohiro Ishii
Back story
This is the combination of a couple of things. This all started as a Hangman/Moxley feud last fall before eventually involving The Elite, which was monumental because Page had been ousted from The Elite after he and Omega lost the tag titles. Omega won the AEW World Championship and linked up with Don Callis, and had a great heel run that culminated in Page overcoming the odds to claim his first World Championship.

So, the reunited Elite began feuding with BCC. Don Callis (still aligned with Omega) then brought in Takeshita as a client to help the Elite (Takeshita was then taken out with a screwdriver following a tag match where he partnered with Omega) before Callis ultimately turned on Omega during a cage match with Mox. He then brought Takeshita back into the mix to cost The Elite the Anarchy in the Arena match at DoN.

Now, here’s where the others come into play. Eddie Kingston has been a friend of Moxley in the past and still considers him a friend, but he also has a long-standing feud with Moxley’s stablemate, Claudio Castagnoli, and Kingston’s hate for Claudio takes precedence over everything else. Most recently, the two battled over Claudio’s ROH World Title.

Umino has been a long-time ally of Moxley in New Japan, and Ishii was brought in by Kingston to even the odds. Got it?

I’ve gone back and forth on the winner of this match a few times, but I’m going with The Elite here since they lost at DoN, and I expect this feud to continue until we get Blood and Guts.

Prediction
The Elite, Eddie Kingston, and Tomohiro Ishii

Sanada (c) vs “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry (w/ Hook) - IWGP World Heavyweight Championship
Back story
Sanada laid down an open challenge to the AEW locker room, and it was answered by Jack Perry. However, the real story here isn’t centered on Sanada and Jack, it’s centered around Jack and his chase for singles gold.

He came up short at Double or Nothing in the four pillars match, and we’ve seen teases of a darker side. He’s leaning heavily into his newfound friendship with Hook (who just happens to hold a singles title) and I’m getting big-time “Festival of Friendship” vibes.

I think Jack loses this one as he drifts closer to the dark side.

Prediction
Sanada

Kenny Omega (c) vs Will Ospreay - IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship
Back Story
These two had (arguably) the match of the year when Omega defeated Ospreay for the title at Wrestle Kingdom 17 this past January, but their feud has been building for years through promos and interviews.

Heading into this match, there have been a few added elements with Don Callis being involved along with Takeshita. Callis has referred to his “family” bringing down Omega, and there has been some speculation as to whether Ospreay might end up being a part of that family.

There’s a lot of intrigue as to how this match will end (interference/debut/clean/dirty), but I’m almost certain Ospreay gets his win back on Omega, and then they run it back at All In.

Prediction
Will Ospreay

Bryan Danielson vs Kazuchika Okada
Back story
Danielson threw down the challenge to Okada at NJPW Dominion. This one is simple. Who is the best in the world? This will almost certainly contend with Omega/Ospreay for MOTN and maybe MOTY.

With Omega losing, I think it makes sense to have the leader of BCC lose as well to keep them on even footing as the Elite/BCC feud moves forward.

Prediction
Kazuchika Okada

Collision is really cool. If you haven't checked it out yet, you should. Different vibes than Dynamite, and I've heard a lot of people who are typically AEW detractors speak highly of the show thus far.

The main event was very cool this week. Punk got the old Cena treatment with about 70/30 against and some LOUD boos.

Whatever the Gunns have been doing, I'm all in now. Their entrance is amazing too.

Can't wait for the show tonight. It's my first live AEW show even though they've been to Toronto already. Kind of regret not going last night, tickets were insanely cheap. Like 10 USD. And people were getting row 100s for like 20.

Absolutely loved the first episode. Didn’t get to watch last nights yet as it was the day of our baby shower. Was going to watch it prior to FD tonight….but looking at the Zero Hour card I now want to watch that and don’t want to get burnt out on wrestling prior to the main events. I’ll have to catch up this week because I heard Collision was killer once again. Love him or hate him CM Punk is good for wrestling.

Beyond excited for Forbidden Door tonight!

Adam Cole vs Tom Lawlor got scratched because Cole is sick :bigcry:

Cole's AEW run has been nothing short of a disaster so far.

Feeling like he's gonna be one of those what ifs.
