Z's ankle?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I tore ligaments in my ankle, and continued to play basketball. Doesn't mean it wasn't a bad injury, but when your momentum is going, you tend to push the pain away. That is, until it becomes unbearable.

I did look pretty bad, and we will struggle if he has to miss signifcant time. We would have no scoring bigs.....

You can already see we missed Boobie in this game.....

I saw this in the game thread before, Of course we missed boobie he's our player and a important piece of our rotation. But not one time this game i thought, Got damn if that was boobie ______ something something something. You know im saying?

They'll have to wait for x-rays and if they need an MRI they'll have to wait until tomorrow once the swelling subsides...

It didn't look that bad IMO...Nowhere near the one that AV suffered in LA last year.. So who knows ?? He simply looked like he turned it...

did you hear they were actually going to take X-rays PIP, it didnt sound like they were from the ESPN guys.

I didn't think it looked real bad. Didn't look like he rolled it all the way.
Z will probably miss a few games and the Cavs will want to be extra cautious with it.

With Z out it does show the need for another big who is a decent scoring threat. With all the talk of SG's this is an area that I think needs to get some help more than that. The Varejao/Wallace combo is fine in limited minutes but it's not something you want to see all the time for major minutes.

Negative X-Rays... So that's good... But, that's usually the case, because the X-Rays show bone, and rarely do you break a bone with a turned ankle...

An MRI is a more through evaluation in which ligaments will be evaluated which will probably take 24 hours to show...But again, it didn't look THAT SEVERE... You never know though :dunno:

Actually there were times when Mo was off the floor that i think we definitely missed Boobie's presence. His improved ball handling, ability to get to the basket now and the threat from outside was missed at times in this game.

That's good, but a sprained ankle on a 7 footer, historically, is much different than a bad ankle on a point guard. Bigs need better balance and weight support from a bad ankle to perform, so he needs to be completely off the foot for a while.

Have to agree. It didn't look like he ended up with all of his weight coming down on that ankle, so it looked a bit more like he rolled it than turned it 90+ degrees.

As pointed out before, 3 games in the next 7 days is a plus. Philly and Atlanta tend to run out smaller lineups, so if DJack and JJ are up for it, they're probably going to see some more time.

I watched it several times, he turned it and seemed to to catch his balance before doing more damage. When he walked on it, it looked like he could possibly walk it off like lebron does. But this is not Lebron, it is Z, it is an aging 7'3" with some foot injuries in the past, we were up 20, so they took him to the locker room, gave him a bucket of ice, and put his foot in it. Smart move. I doubt he misses significant time, but I am not doctor nor did I examine him. Didnt seem that bad. Now we get to see how the rookies fit in as AV will surely start a few games for z.

Not to be a downer but pretty much all xrays for ankle sprains are negative which means no broken bones which wasn't expected. But after they do an MRI they should know how long he's out for, if he's out.

I didn't think it looked that bad either. Probably didn't feel that great. Hopefully he'll only be out a few games.

I sprained my ankle on Monday night playing basketball. I limped off the court on my own and had x-rays the next morning. Sprained ligament in my ankle. Dr. said a sprained ligament typically takes a little bit longer than a normal sprain. I guess we'll see what the diagnosis is for the big fella tomorrow.
