"Look for the Cavs to make one more small move before the trade deadline passes. With the plethora of bigs available in next years draft I wouldn't bet on them making an offer for Greg Oden but I could see them using the roughly 4 million they have left under the cap to snag another pick. They really want a 2014 1st round pick".

I agree Ben. I think his game is very similar to Waiters in that his best asset is his irrational confidence in his offensive ability, but unlike Waiters, his jumper is stronger and more consistent than his drive and he is capable of using that first to get going. If he were put in a position where he got the green light in a system like ours like Arenas did in Washington where Eddie was running this exact same offense, he'd turn some heads. Every bit the player Kemba Walker is.

I think Selby has more defensive ability and Id love to watch him match up with Kyrie and Dion in some heated practices.

Speights plays decent defense at the four. Ellington also has excellent defensive numbers. gIven that tyler is at -8 PER differential at center, mo will be a big improvement defensively at that position, although i think the team defense will have to improve to make any real difference in the W column...

. I think TZ's minutes will drop to 30, but i am not sure he does not start. In january, he has been rebounding better, and blocking more shots. I think his BBIQ is higher than Mo, and his offense is better, passing skills better. I just dont think he is physiclly ready to play 40 minutes a night for the next half of the season. Mo had a shot at earning a start with zbo out, but never really established himself. He is tough, physical, but he makes some dumbass plays, which will earn him benching by Byron...

Boobie+Luke Walton for Emeka Okafor + 2014 unprotected first?

And we didn't even have a Safari

Thats because it was unknown to us..now that it has happened and Ben made that quote about the Cavs making a small move at the trade deadline, this place will have safari's/Indiana Jone's/Bat signals and implode this website in a few weeks..

Good thing he upgraded the server this morning

Apparently last night Cavs released Jeremy Pargo pregame, but then had to scrap about 10,000 game programs because he was on the cover.

It is been awhile since I posted as I work long hours here in Japan. As for the trade, you got to give props to Dan (opening the pocket to pay salary) and Chris (very aggressive to find draft picks and look for teams who want to get out of the luxury). The fact that we picked up Leuer for nothing and turned him into 3 role players and a draft pick. I like how Chris is stockpiling draft picks. I am sure he is planning to use very few of them in the future when we compete so we can offer 1 but still have a draft pick to use during draft day. I have always wanted Speights but he was picked early and focused a lot on him even when he was in Philly. Sometimes you are going to think JJ Hickson as he does some boneheaded plays but Speights does have talent and wants to prove himself he can play in this league. I think it is a good opportunity for Speights to play especially with Varejao out for the year and Zeller who is getting bullied too easily inside. I really would like to put Zeller back to the bench if possible. It would be interesting to watch Speights and Thompson play together. Selby is one player I liked watching when he was in high school and I believe he was one of the top 5 prospects with Irving there as well. Selby is quick and plays better perimeter defense which we really need. Ellington is just a shooter who could have a good game or hit some shots at the right moments. In the very end, if those 3 do not do well, we at least have a first round pick to stockpile.

Well done.

Ben, who or where was this quote from?

If Oden can actually be healthy, he'd be better than a 2014 first. He was overall #1 pick for a reason.

And it is possible we could do both. Oden with our cap space this year, guaranteed next year, team option 2014

Then something like

Gibson + Casspi + Miles for Okafor (150% rule) and a #1 pick.
Luke for Ariza also works if we need to add incentive to get that pick unprotected (the assumption is this saves washington about $8 million assuming Ariza isn't opting out).

From our end we tie up some money short term, but should still go into 2014 with enough for a max free agent.

imagine a roster that has 8 first round picks from the past 4 drafts, plus a healthy greg oden, possibly still Andy, plus max free agent money heading into 2014 free agency.

lol.... that's funny. Shouldn't that be included as part of the cost of making this trade?

Trade Checker
Jon Leuer and 10,000 programs for Speights, Selby, Ellington and a protected 1st

Trade accepted

Selby has a chance to be something in this league... Not sure it will be with the Cavs though.

He's going to get a chance to be something in Canton first.
