Gilbert buying Indians soon ?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Probably about all you need to know in regard to whether someone would invest.

Yeah Well someone may want to buy them on the cheap but 1) will Dolan sell it for a reasonable price and 2) why even bother taking a risk on that when the possibility of return is minimal?

:/

I don't think they will sell at a reasonable price, however, I think with a new owner, no matter who it is, the return COULD be great, because if the fans hear there is a new owner, they might come out for the first, oh, 10 games of the season? :chuckles:

If this teams value is considered low, there will be no shortage of bidders.

Contrary to popular belief, I would welcome new ownership, including Dan Gilbert.

I am however aware of the fact that new ownership will not mean an influx of talent via free agency. This teams bread and butter will still be the draft and Latin America.

I'm going to say this with all love and affection: Fuck Dan Gilbert.

I want Cuban. Tell me how awesome it would be to have the gateway plaza run by Cuban and Gilbert?! Jesus, the only thing we'd need is a resurrection of young Al Davis owning the Browns and it'd be a full blown orgasm for me.

I know I've said this a few times - but beware of new owners.

The best way to turn a profit in baseball as a small market is to lose. Unless you get a truly crazy-rich owner (like DET), it won't do much.

People FREAK OUT about Dan Gilbert spending money because he went over the salary cap and paid $5-10 million in luxury tax. Think about what $5-10 million buys you in baseball.

I could see a new owner coming in here and moving the team after 5 years of this shitty attendance. I hope Tampa and Oakland never get a new stadium otherwise I would say we would the team looked to be moved.

I guarantee that will not happen.

Not unless it's Bill Gates. Because whoever moves the team would break an expensive lease.

I mean, he's talking out of his ass.

The Indians are tied in to Cleveland for quite some time, and there is really no shot they'd allow the team to move.

Yes this is just my personal thinking but my reasoning is the Indians are the Cubs of the AL only without the loyal fans and Cleveland isn't big or wealthy enough to support 3 teams anymore. Oakland has more history that Cleveland when it comes to baseball. If Oakland and Tampa get new stadiums who would you say would be the talk of the MLB to move? Toronto?

How do you figure that Oakland has more history than Cleveland when it comes to baseball?

The A's have 15 AL pennants (6 in Oakland) and 9 Word Series titles (4 in Oakland). The Indians were irrelevant for 30 years. But hey, we have 1920, 1948, Bob Feller and a bunch of disappointments.

Jesus Fucking Christ, you should be banned for trolling this hard.

Tell me then, how do the Indians have a better history than the A's? Reality sucks sometimes doesn't it?

I mean...outside of the Bash Brothers era and a great five year run in the early mid 70s...what the fuck are you talking about?

Baseball has been in Cleveland since 1901.

They have 31 Hall of Fame players, seven managers.

Oakland has been around since the late 60s, and while they have had some pretty good postseason success that's not what history is all about.

I watched that movie. Ricky Vaughn was the shit.

The Cubs don't really have loyal fans...have you ever been to a Cubs game? Most of them are late-20s to mid-30s transplants who go to the games for the party atmosphere. Yes, they buy tickets, but they're hardly "fans". Going to Cubs games is the chic thing to do during summers on the North Side.
