Gilbert buying Indians soon ?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd still like to hear a legitimate argument that the A's have a better baseball history than the Indians.

Go ahead, I'll wait.

Yes this is just my personal thinking but my reasoning is the Indians are the Cubs of the AL only without the loyal fans and Cleveland isn't big or wealthy enough to support 3 teams anymore. Oakland has more history that Cleveland when it comes to baseball. If Oakland and Tampa get new stadiums who would you say would be the talk of the MLB to move? Toronto?

Even Connie Mack would think you were off base.

The A's were an afterthought for most of their time in Philly, failed in KC, and are the second most popular team in the Bay Area. You can point to the 70s and the Bash Brothers, but I'll take Feller, Addie Joss, and Tris Speaker over whatever roided out jokesters you can say came from O-Town.

and I'm still waiting to hear a legitimate argument that the Indians have a better baseball history than the A's. Doesn't matter really. The fact is we both have shitty fans.

How about mentioning this you tool...

Major League Baseball's Cleveland Indians are one of the most storied franchises in all sports. Cleveland is one of four cities holding original charter status with the American League who have remained in one city since the league's inception in 1901: The Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers are the others.

Pre-Indian Cleveland

The first professional baseball game played in Cleveland was on June 2, 1869, and from that game through the city's 1901 connection with the then modern version of the American League, instability was a keyword of the franchise's history. Ownership, leagues and names transitioned with the altered landscape of pro ball organization.

Charter member of the American League, was a dynasty in the early 20th century and last decade of the same century, have been a model franchise for rebuilding small market teams in the aughts and now 2010's.

The A's have...what, the 80's and early part of the aughts and are a model franchise for not moving a baseball team into a terrible stadium where the ball dies.

TL;DR, don't make stupid statements then back away because you were just trying to troll.

Ones a charter member of the AL with 30+ Hall of Famers.

The other has been in Oakland since the 70s, the franchise's third city.

Tough call.

I still stand behind my statement. Would you all at least agree the A's have been a more successful franchise?

Yes.

But your confusing post season success with history.

According to Forbes, the Indians are worth 410 million dollars, have been increasing in value 16% over the previous year, and the kicker, have the highest amount of operating income in baseball.

They also have the 7th highest amount of revenue coming in too.

Baseball is so freaking broken. Sell the team, Dolans. Sell the team.

As always this time of year, it needs to be said - operating income is not profit. Now that that is clear: You mean 7th lowest revenue, and 5th lowest franchise value. Go ahead, find a bidder who wants to snap that up in a market that is shrinking and getting poorer.

I have no idea how anyone could belive the Indians have the 7th highest revenue when other teams have constant sell-outs and BILLION dollar TV contracts.

I mean, the Tribe had The 6th lowest attendance - simple logic would show that would be nearly impossible.

The Forbes numbers are so skewed I'm surprised Hoynes didn't write them.

Considering this for new sig. :chuckles:

Actually, they aren't too bad. They aren't 100% accurate, and we can't even truly value a enterprise on just revenue and operating income numbers, but the leaks of the some of the franchises' financial statements have shown that most of the numbers are close enough for government work.
