Mike Pettine

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The only variable of how a quarterback performs is how he performs... There are zero other variables. If recievers aren't on the same page and dropping balls that changes absolutely nothing. I've seen how hoyer quarterbacks and how the team rallies around him. Nothing will change that. If the saints return that last kick off back well no shit that doesn't change anything hoyer did.

Bulletproof.

Lot of people around here stand behind their own eyes. I see it as hypocritical to chastise someone else who prefers their own view over statistics..

Bulletproof.
There ARE other variables on how successful some one is. Example: Matt Cassel. He's not a different quarterback now than he was in new England though. Brains people, use them

Your argument has gone off the rails a bit here.

Some people believe wholeheartedly in ignoring stats and believe intangibles are what makes QBs successful. It's fine, you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

Dissenters just happen to have an opinion (a historically accurate one) which says that those intangibles are glorified more by the media than they are grounded in reality.

I can agree to disagree

Hoyer has been a winner for the Browns because he minimizes mistakes, takes care of the ball, and doesn't take unnecessary risks. It's not some innate quality that leads him to win games. It's because our team has a good defense that can put in some work if the offense can stay on the field long enough to give them their breaks. Hoyer is solid enough to keep the offense on the field, and thus the defense plays better because they're not exhausted like they were last year when Weeden was out there doing three and outs every drive.

He's a game manager. Sometimes that's enough to win with. Maybe for the Browns it will be, especially if Pettine proves to be a good coach.
Sort of Craig Krenzel at OSU.

"Trust me" doesn't fly around RCF and brings down the overall quality of the board. It's all about substance around here, all we've done is question his logic. And he has thus far been unable to make a legitimate case outside of "Because i said so."

You forgot "your brains, use them."

But Soda isn't going to miss an opportunity to get up on his soapbox, so don't try and stop him.

That initial post was not about hoyer. It was just in general. I said I don't usually speak in absolute because I realize different variables and meant that about ANYTHING. You lack reading comprehension. Nowhere did I specify I was talkng about hoyer. There ARE different variables that can change how successful he is, doesn't change WHO he and how he plays though.

It'd be easier to understand you if there weren't grammatical mistakes all over your posts. Shoulda stayed in school.

This is the Mike Pettine thread not a Manziel or Hoyer thread. Move that other talk to the appropriate threads.

Have they distributed those pads out to the needy players yet?

I agree that "trust me" shouldn't slide, as long as we're self-policing as well. It comes from folks who will use the "my eyes tell me all I need to know", which just should be pointed out. Also, a lot of folks ganging up on one poster doesn't really add to the quality, either.

This shouldn't be seen necessarily as a defense of upperlip, just a reiteration of practice what you preach. Myself included.

The best option after the other guys they viewed as better options turned them down.

Keep doing you, Pett.

Isn't that how a coaching search works, though?
