Shaun Livingston Will Soon be a Free Agent

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Yea, I have no clue what exactly Loyd thinks Livingston is going to command on the market, but it won't be much. Cavs will be the highest bidder, and quite possibly the only bidder. When a guy gets waived by two bad teams, and the only team to go after you, on waivers, is another bad team, the market for your services is basically zero.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

How incredibly disappointing. I fully understand why he needs to look that way. This is his last chance at any real money. But, I really really hate this.

In the interview he did where he talked about Washington being a bad place to play, he said he would see at the end of the year whether the Cavs wanted him or not. I don't know if Jason got more out of him after that, but Shaun didn't say anything about highest bidder. I am sure he will want a raise, and he deserves more than the minimum, but I am not sure we are talking big money here.

The funny thing is that we could afford him if we somehow keep him until the 2014 or 15 off-season and either use bird rights or the MLE. It's just that, right now, his contract is an issue with having large amounts of cap space that off-season.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Lloyd should have provided more of an explanation if he's going to make a claim like that. Cap issues aside, if we can't retain Livingston, good luck retaining better players. Or attracting them for that matter.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Don't see why the cavs would not resign Livingston because of money. Lloyd should stick to reporting. Speculating should be reserved for message board posters.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

The only way I see Livingston walking is for more minutes on a good team. The Cavs (specifically Byron and Dion) enjoy his presence both on the court and in the locker room. Not to mention, unlike Parker/Jamison/Boobie of the last couple seasons, the guy can still play and looks to have productive years ahead of him.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Cavs should keep Livingston on their terms and not his. This is a guy who's bounced around the league doing very little and now is finally producing and playing at a decent level. There's been very little market for him in the past.
I'm fine with keeping him and he's done a solid job but he's not a player you make any sizable investment in.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Regarding his post fadeaway, I honestly think he needs to practice doing that shot with nobody on him, because with the height advantage, that's almost the case. He needs to get better touch on it for it to be truly lethal.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

3yr/6mil contract with the final year being a team option? Maybe a bit more money?

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Dion better play PG while Kyrie is out, we can't have Livingston driving his value up, ATM I think we can get him for about that much though

I think it is safe to say that the Cavs are going to be very stingy with guaranteed dollars for the 2014-2015 season.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Hey, the guy needs to get whatever he can. He earned it with the hard work he had this season. I hope it works out for Shaun next year and in the future. Wish him luck. Glad he helped us out.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Really hope this guy stays with us.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

I could see a team like the Thunder being interested in his services. Of course, the Thunder are pretty strapped and likely won't have a whole lot of green to toss his way. I'm very much hopeful we'll retain his services. He's provided a great prescience to our ball club.

If he truly knows the future, and wants to be on the team, that's a good sign.
