Should we trade Isaiah Thomas at the trade deadline?

I would be fine with replacing IT with Smart and Brown. Smart, Brown, Crowder, Zizic, BKN pick. That's still a decent haul. No stars there but it provides a lot of help in areas we need. Smart is the defensive PG with size to pair with Rose and Brown gives us another young player with potential for if Lebron leaves, while being ready to contribute right away. If not then he is a very tradeable asset.

We need a star back for Kyrie. Otherwise, we are trading a dollar for four quarters. Winning championships depends not only on the value of what you have, but also the denominations of the currency. Brown might be good. Tatum, too. But we need to get a can't miss guy (which might be Tatum). Otherwise, I agree with trying to get Bledsoe from the Suns.

That rumor about IT never playing meaningful minutes again....

I've actually heard it twice, although only one I'd consider the slightest possibility that he has sauces.

I'm actually getting a bit worried about all this.

This screws both teams but Celts more than Cavs. Wonder if they can even continue a deal that works. Not getting anything from IT this year means Celts just throwing in Smart or their own pick won't be enough, right?

Sounds like the Bo Jackson injury. How did IT's happen?

He got injured in a game against Minnesotta in march. Then he played through it and in the playoffs his body finally broke down. It smells like incompetence of the Celtics medical staff. He might have aggravated it further for not resting properly, but they were deep in their fight to win the ecf.

Right. They will need to include Multiple firsts if its just Smart. Or 2 out of Brown/Tatum/Memphis.

This is pretty disappointing. I rate IT very high, that pick is gonna be great and crowder is the perfect role player for us.

Even the bucks deal as good as it is will suck stepping back to that. At least bring delly home if that happens.

The Celtics are FUCKED! It's the Cavs that are going to win this deal in an even more spectacular fashion.

Danny Ainge now has two choices-either take back IT and sweeten the Cavs deal or basically lose out on serious contention for the next few years.

Losing out on this deal means the Celtics will basically be stuck in neutral and will absolutely take a back seat to the Wizards. Having a team of Hayward, Crowder, their young pups, Morris, and Smart means they will maybe win 40-45 games. With the probable long term demise of Issaih Thomas the Celtics can't afford to not do this trade if they want to seriously contend now.

If I am the Cavs I am demanding that they take back IT and give us Jaylen Brown and another 1st rounder.

So the deal back to the Cavs would be Jaylen Brown, Crowder, the center and two 1st rounders. Or the Celtics basically have to give assets to the Suns to make a 3 team deal work that nets us Bledsoe.

I don't see any way the Celtics can now go back on this deal. If Issaih is damaged goods they have to cut their losses and mortgage assets to acquire Kyrie.

It's either do this deal now or they can't shift their time horizon for another four seasons.

IT will be a free agent at the end of the year, and Boston doesn't want him back. If we're going to keep him and pay his salary for his only year here, they better come up shooting!. He's an NBA All Star, we should demand another high pick.

If the Celtics cough up
2 1st round picks
Tatum or Brown
Crowder
the Center
and one out of Smart or Morris

then the Cavs would be absolute fools to not trade Kyrie and maybe Shumpert for that. That is a better haul for the Cavs. Koby should be going for the throat right now if the news about IT never being the same is legit.
