Pluto: Childress, WCO, and the draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Blackmon being available is almost a certainty IMO.

Kalil is going 2nd or 3rd, IMO.

For the life of me, I can't understand why St. Louis wouldn't want a blindside protector for the next 10-15 years...but perhaps that's why they're where they are at the moment. Minnesota would almost certainly jump at that chance.

The Rams have been striking out in the draft the last decade or so it seems. Stephen Jackson is the only real player they have hit on it seems.

Honestly guys, like how much fucking worse can we get? we talk about getting set back and all that jazz, but if you think about it, why not take the risk? what do we have to lose? you get one of the greatest athletes to ever play quarterback in college, he comes from a great background, hes intelligent/well spoken, great leader, has a great arm... im just getting the feeling that some people on this board are afraid of taking a risk on drafting a quarterback so high because it could make us worse if he doesnt pan out... our offense really could not be much worse. McCoy was a 3rd rounder, and we saw this year exactly what we knew we were going to get. a tough kid with moxie and some leadership, but he just does not have the tools. he hangs his receivers out to dry because he cant put any zip on the ball, he cant stretch the defense down field with his arm, he cant throw from the pocket. BASED ON WHAT WE HAVE SEEN SO FAR, colt is unworthy of any form of safety in maintaing his role. we dont get to see him every day in practice either... if the fact that shurmur, holmgren, and co really do not come off excited when they talk about colt doesnt speak volumes about his abilities, then i dont know what does. at some point, you have to take a risk in today's NFL. its painfully obvious how hard it is to get lucky and have a tom brady fall into our laps in the later rounds, since we have tried that ever since we drafted tim couch 1 overall and he didn't pan out. not taking your guy/putting off finding a franchise quarterback puts the franchise further back than taking one and having him flop, in my opinion.

Long is a stud, but you're mostly right.

Especially in the mid rounds.

Didn't the Rams just spend a top-five pick on a tackle a couple of years ago? Maybe they don't want to expend that large of a share of their resources into the OL.

I personally think Justin Blackmon is the guy they should go after. St. Louis's receiving corps made ours look like the 1981 Chargers.

Of course hindsight is 20-20, but who wishes we drafted JPP instead of Haden?

Yeah, but he sucked (more or less).

Smith is due $10 million in salary this season, but the Rams would only be on the hook for $1 million of it if they release him.

They've got to find a protector for Bradford's blind side, and taking a WR who doesn't profile in the same mold as AJ Green or Calvin Johnson just doesn't make sense for them IMO.

Doesn't seem like your typical Jeff Fisher move, IMO.

It would probably just be one pick, #22

I think that pick is important. We've seen picks build teams over and over again. I'm just not very open to the idea of giving away two players for one. Especially when there is so much boom or bust potential.

I do understand that we need to get a QB eventually and would like RG3 at #4, but that #22 pick could be Jason Pierre Paul or Ed Reed or Clay Matthews. I understand what you're saying, I just agree to disagree.

Not me. Haden is a top-5 corner in a pass-happy league. We need a pass rush, too, but Haden will be a cornerstone of our defense for years.

I don't agree with you, but Air Coryell references are an automatic rep point in my book.

then we would still have eric wright as a corner.

no.
We wouldn't have had Wright this past season. We offered him more money and he still decided to go to Detroit. He was never going to stay in Cleveland with the way some fans treated him.

Jayme Mitchell isn't nearly as bad as Eric Wright.

I might have to argue this. I'm no fan of Wright, but Mitchell was flat out one of the worst ends in the NFL. I think he had 1 sack last season and seemed like he always got blown up at the LOS.
