And by your logic, we'd hit some gems on those 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounders. Not a strong suit of our recent draft history... I just want BPA to start filling in some holes, not a bunch of "hope this works out" later round projects...
You can't count wins and losses in the later rounds by who is a pro-bowl caliber player. The majority of your team is going to be depth/special teams/solid starters. Hence, the latter part of the draft is often used to make that happen.
Colt McCoy (3) is an above-average back-up QB from the 3rd round = depth
Shawn Lauvao (3) is an improving starter at RG = starter
Larry Asante (5) = bust
Clifton Geathers (6) = not on the Browns/bust
Carlton Mitchell (6) = bust. Can't see him turning a corner now. (Hope he does)
Eric Hagg (7) = Played in 10 games last year. Looked decent. Value found here.
Jason Pinkston (5) = Starting LG. Improved vastly last year, played all 16 games. Gem.
Buster Skrine (5) = Nickel CB. Played in all 16 games last year. 1 pick. Definite value here.
Owen Marecic (4) = Starting FB. Disappointing year last year, but expected to bounce back this year. Incomplete.
Jordan Cameron (4) = Developmental TE. Played in his 2nd year at TE last year. Jury still out, but immense potential. Incomplete.
Everyone drafted by the current front office in the 1st and 2nd rounds are solid players on the team currently, less Hardesty.
Late rounds don't sound like such a weak suit of this current front office.
