Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Delly is showing what he is- a end of the bench player with very limited offensive game. His FG % since 1/1/14 is .282.

Defensively, I admire his hustle but he is routinely out-quicked by his man.

To me, he's a player who maybe gets 5 minutes a game to see if he can harass a hot shooting guard.

Delly is proof that Mike Brown is the worst coach for this team. How he gets insanely more minutes than a 10x more talented player like Karasev is beyond me. Any time Delly fires up an open three, I just know it's not going in because he's not a good shooter. Or a good dribbler. Or a good playmaker. He just isn't good.

He's okay on defense because he hustles, but that's about it.

How quickly people turn...

Delly was shooting the ball fine from deep through January and he is still great at facilitating offense. Not necessarily being a playmaker, but he helps tremendously in keeping the ball moving. He looks like crap without another guard who is also willing to keep the ball moving.

Serious question, what skills does Delly actually bring to the table?

...Why Mike Brown is choosing to "develop" Delly over our 1st round pick (who has played professionally for 2 years) is beyond me.

I haven't turned on him. Delly is great in spurts and has undeniable toughness. But he has been exposed more with CJ and Dion being out. Doesn't mean I don't like him. But right now, he is playing a role he isn't quite ready for. More of a testament to the value of Dion than anything.

You can't say a guy that doesn't even see the floor is better than Delly because you have no idea if that's true.

Delly already flourishes defensively and at facilitating the offense and he is still a rookie. If he spends the offseason working on that 3 pt shot and maybe developing that floater in the lane he does every now and then...watch out.

I think he needs to put in considerable work on his triple. Look at a guy like fisher, delly has all of his intangibles and the ability to defend, but he needs one good offensive skill that is not passing. He either needs to be able to use his strength to get to the foul line, or become a 40% 3 point shooter to spread the floor. I think the latter is more likely

There was a reason Delly went undrafted. He's been a pleasant surprise this season to be fair, but Sergey is probably better. "Having already appeared in the Olympics for the Russian national team and leading the country's top basketball league, the PBL, in scoring, Karasev is likely the most productive young prospect in all of European basketball. Able to attend the Nike Hoop Summit thanks to some fortunate scheduling that did not force him to miss any game action for Triumph Lyubertsy, he was clearly the most mature player in attendance. The son of a coach and former player, Karasev impacted the World Select Team's practices and the game itself with his high basketball IQ, even when he wasn't scoring. An extremely savvy passer, Karasev is unselfish and possesses excellent court vision. Forcing very little this week, he was content to take a complimentary role, but still managed to impress with his feel for the game and decision-making. Karasev did most of his damage offensively in catch and shoot situations, taking advantage on the occasions when he found himself open. Shooting the ball with great range and effortless mechanics with his feet set, Karasev impressed scouts with his prolific perimeter shooting both in drills and game action to the point that it was surprising to see him miss at times. Making 38% of his 3-pointers this season, Karasev's numbers belie his consistency from the perimeter given the defensive pressure he regularly faces." http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Sergey-Karasev-6118/

I don't see Delly facilitating the offense as you say. He's just swinging the ball over like players should be doing. If he was doing what you say he's doing he would average more assist for the 15MPG he plays. His defense is overrated by certain ppl here because I sure don't see much of it anymore. He's getting beat off the dribble a lot when gaurds don't call for a pick. Delly is good a fighting over picks unlike Kyrie and Jack who gets picked off then are slow to get back on their man.

Yeah, but Sergey played THREE minutes for Russia at the Olympics and Delly started every game for Australia.
Plus, Australia beat Russia at the Olympics.

I am not worried about his 3 point shot. He is not missing by much at all, this will turn around. The same happened in stretches at St Marys.
Everyone has been struggling lately. No one is nailing it from beyond the arc.

Point taken. I'm not worried about Delly. The kid's solid, and I admire his attitude. I just wish Sergey was able to get meaningful minutes, too.
