2014 NFL Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Round 1 Thread - Official NFL Draft - May 8, 2014

I was not planning on forming an opinion on who we should draft until later this weekend.

That's because you're not a real fan. I'm already angry!

Mallett to Houston would eliminate the "need" to leap back into the back end of the 1st round ahead of the Texans.

I'm not sure the credible ones on here would fall into that category, myself included.

You'll shoe-horn some reasoning to shed any wrong predictions. :chuckles:

In all seriousness, I know I'm not an expert (although I wish I were). I am trying to keep myself from getting too attached to a player. That way, when the pick is made, I can try to figure out why and the fit, rather than bitch and moan. I just really, really don't want an OL or Johnny at 4.

I'd love to see Mallett got to Houston.

Would eliminate a QB needy team to compete with for one of the later 1st signal callers.

Bill just trolling his former students.

Khalil Mack interview on ESPN:

Reporter: At what point do you start getting nervous if you haven't been picked?
Mack: Hmm around 5...6...
Reporter: So if you're on the board at pick 5 something went wrong?
Mack: We can say that.

So it seems like Mack doesn't think he is falling past the Browns.

Or he thinks that the Falcons will move up to snag him if he is there at 4.

It boggles my mind how much stock people put into mock draft experts. Their job is to garner ratings, not analyze player talent. There is a reason Manziel was in the top 5 of a lot of mock drafts (ratings). There is also a reason that everyone is now warning that he may plummet out of the first round (he isn't that talented).

So Manziel isn't that talented, Jadeveon Clowny isn't that much better than Barkevious Mingo, and Aaron Murray should go in the 2nd round.

Do we not watch the same games or something?!

I just ran the analytics on the movie "The Bodyguard". It grossed 122 million dollars, which was 7th best in all of 1992.

Whitney and Costner are rising on the big board leading up to the draft tonight!

Shut up.

Kiper and McShay can tell you the strengths and weaknesses of every player in the draft and give their best judgement on how they think their talents will translate and they mock what they think is going to happen.

They're easy scapegoats because theyre so well known. Shouldn't follow their opinions too closely but to say they no nothing...

Rizzo just tweeted Browns draft board is Watkins, Robinson, Matthews. Again this is Tony Rizzo so take it with a grain of salt.

Manziel won't be starting in 5 years. Aaron Murray may have a chance to start in 5 years. Murray is the better NFL talent. Played four years in an NFL offense, made pre-snap reads, and consistently hit open recievers in his progression. Manziel played in a gimmick offense, did not make pre-snap reads, and consistently passed over open recievers in his progression. One set of skills translates to the NFL one set doesn't. Time will tell who is right or wrong.

As far as Clowny goes... yes he is a premier talent. My argument was that we have an edge rusher/LB hybrid in Mingo. Clowny isn't that necessary of a pick. May as well trade down and pick up extra draft picks.

There are three positions usually relegated for the top 5. D-Line, O-Line, and QB. Our D-Line is pretty fucking solid, we have a HOF left tackle, and no QB has premier polished talent.
