We just keep inching closer and closer to this depth chart, which could be 15 deep with someone like Cunningham (at least until we might use the TPE during the season for another SG/SF/Big).

KI.....MW.....MD
IS......JR......JC/TPE
LJ......RJ......JH
KL.....TT......JJ
TM....AV......SK

I like it a lot.

Didn't I tell you that JJ is NOT a 4????

And JH is a 2.

Jamal Crawford could be reinvigorated here away from the lights of LA.

Crawford is a sufficient downgrade from Smith and the type of player we need to stay far away from.

Not hearing anymore of this Crawford talk would be one of the biggest benefits of re-signing JR.

I don't think so, since we picked up Mo. Unless the plan is to play him at the 3 a lot.
He'll definitely be within shouting distance of 30 mpg as long as he's healthy and on the team. His role hasn't really been altered by any of our additions.

A potential luxury tax bill of $46.1 million has stalled talks between Tristan Thompson and the Cavs.

Thompson initially agreed to a five-year, $80 million deal with the Cavs early on in free agency, but after seeing some of his peers earn substantially more, Thompson's camp pulled back on the offer. The problem is, with the Cavs already having $88.6 million in guaranteed salary on the books for next season, signing Thompson to the max he desires would balloon the luxury tax to $46.1 million, essentially costing Cleveland $62.5 million to sign him. That is a hefty bill to pay for a role player, but with LeBron James campaigning to get a deal with Tristan done, it's quite possible they bite the bullet and pay the man. As for fantasy basketball, Thompson has very little value playing behind Kevin Love in Cleveland.

Thoughts?

So they had a deal in place (still an overpay), and Tristan balked last minute because he got greedy. They started playing the comparison game--and he clearly does not have a realistic view of his own talents if he thinks he deserves more. The Cavs should just sit tight at the agreed upon deal, and if he never comes back around, then he can go play for a loser next summer. The Cavs front office should dare him to.

My thoughts are why are you posting this everywhere without linking to the source............

Not sure how that's an article or source/news.

It simply does the math on our tax bill and makes it seem like we didn't realize the tax burden in the first place.

The 14-16 million we've been willing to pay already comes with a huge tax bill and wenwill pay that. The haggling is on dollar amount above 16 million per year, the additional tax that presents, and how close that puts TT to Kyrie and Love money.

Anyways, nothing news. Just have to let this play out.

It's no coincidence that TT, Norris Cole, and Montreszl Harrell are all unsigned. Rich Paul. But in the end, like with Bledsoe last year, deals will get done for all three.

Yup. That's what I immediately thought too. We are holding some hard line with JR, and exploring our options.
Odd, my first thought was this is the same Frank Isola that knows absolutely shit, has no sources, and just writes fluff NBA pieces for a New York audience that doesn't know any better. I'd bet there's 0% truth to it.

Can someone name the peers of TT that got Substantially more? Is he talking about Love or Aldridge and Green?

All those guys are way better than TT

Draymond Green and Greg Monroe because they are both coming off their rookie contract?

Aldridge and Love because they both sort of play the same position?

Or maybe guys like Jimmy Butler or Kawhi Leonard, who were both from the 2011 draft class?

On the other side of the ledger, we've got Valanciunas, Asik, R. Lopez, Tyson Chandler, as possible comps. Valanciunas is the best comp. 2011 draft class, taken right after Tristan, put up comparable numbers. (I think a decent case can be made that Val's numbers were better last year and that his potential for further development is greater, but whatever.)

What did these guys sign for?

Valanciunas 4/$60M [EDIT: 4/$64M, based on latest reporting]
Asik 5/$60M
Lopez 4/$54M
Chandler 4/$52M

I can't believe the Valanciunas extension exactly improves Tristan's bargaining position.
