Draymond Green and Greg Monroe because they are both coming off their rookie contract?

Aldridge and Love because they both sort of play the same position?

Or maybe guys like Jimmy Butler or Kawhi Leonard, who were both from the 2011 draft class?

On the other side of the ledger, we've got Valanciunas, Asik, R. Lopez, Tyson Chandler, as possible comps. Valanciunas is the best comp. 2011 draft class, taken right after Tristan, put up comparable numbers. (I think a decent case can be made that Val's numbers were better last year and that his potential for further development is greater, but whatever.)

What did these guys sign for?

Valanciunas 4/$60M
Asik 5/$60M
Lopez 4/$54M
Chandler 4/$52M

I can't believe the Valanciunas extension exactly improves Tristan's bargaining position.
These guys are in similar roles and stats as TT. I don't really know who he's comparing himself to saying 80 mil isn't enough.

Seems like Paul thinks someone else was gonna offer more.

Odd, my first thought was this is the same Frank Isola that knows absolutely shit, has no sources, and just writes fluff NBA pieces for a New York audience that doesn't know any better. I'd bet there's 0% truth to it.

Yes. Great point. That too is also likely true.

My thoughts are why are you posting this everywhere without linking to the source............
especially if you go to the source it worded differently. As it uses the words "it's believed".

JV: 80 starts, 26.2 MPG, 12 PPG, 8.7 REB, 57.2% FG, 78.6% FT, 20.6 PER

TT: 15 starts, 26.8 MPG, 8.5 PPG, 8.0 REB, 54.7% FG, 64.1% FT, 15.6 PER

Things like RPM do favor TT but Valanciunas is 7 feet tall and a full year younger than TT.

He should get paid more IMO and that's not even taking in to consideration how much easier TT's role is with the Cavs. I'm guessing if you put Valanciunas on Cleveland, with our great floor spacing and KI/LBJ to run P&R with him, that his numbers would take a huge jump.

JV has DRPM of 1 while TT has -0.5. So JV is likely a better defender, and his stats suggest that he is a better offensive player. I think TT doesn't have as much market value as JV. According to what JV got, TT's market value is about 50-55 mil for 4 years, and about 60-65 mil for 5 years.

This is a really important point. Thompson is fortunate enough to be on a team that requires zero from him offensively, and where his complete lack of range from outside 3 feet isn't a deal breaker. But that's because he's playing alongside three offensive superstars and can focus on the one thing he's good at -- being an energy garbageman.

In some ways, TT reminds me a lot of Andy when he was younger. Hustle defender, good rebounder, no real offensive game, and a F/C who was a bit undersized when playing C against bigger guys. And the thought of giving Andy a near-max contract would have been lunacy.

The big difference I see between JV and TT is that JV has demonstrated more potential in more areas, whereas TT has matured faster. If TT was showing any legitimate signs of developing a consistent shot, this would be a different discussion. But he hasn't, and he has so damn far to go to be an offensive contributor that it is more like the long odds of a lottery ticket than a legitimate estimate of potential. I see a lot of things in JV's game that, if he improves them, could make him an All-Star caliber center. I just don't see that kind of potential with TT.

Rotoworld.

I'm sure you don't complain about the other stuff posted without a source. You take what's said and run with it, like the reported 94M.

It has always been standard to post an actual clickable hyperlink to whatever story is being quoted or at least to mention by name who wrote the story or where its from. Whether good news, bad news, or neutral news.

I think that is all anybody wanted from the get go. Just to know where the info/article was coming from, not to put you through the ringer about it.

As a Raptors fan, I would be curious in which areas you are thinking when you refer to potential.

JV does some things very well and others pretty badly. From my perspective, he has not been a disappointment but neither has he shown the potential to be a superstar. It's still very unclear to me whom of TT, JV, or Kanter will have the better career because all three have definite strong points and very weak areas. I think in the end, it may depend upon who will put in a situation where he can be the better complimentary piece.

I stopped at standard. First of all, who was the source that said Tristan wanted 94M? Nobody can post that source because a poster said so and posters ran with it. Stop trying to police me up. It was an obvious mistake. I don't spend my life on here.
