Two high school football players intentionally hit ref

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I carry on my person.

I stopped doing this when I moved to Hawaii.. personally wouldn't ever again unless I saw the need to. My trunk is fine.

For you to say that it's OK for you or anyone else to be violent if someone calls them a name is the reason why people fear - ironically - people like you who carry guns.

Well, to me that sounds like bullshit.

If a person feared getting shot, they'd not likely call someone a "N*****" and instead keep it to themselves.

Last time I got called a N***** was actually in Hawaii, and yes, I leveled the guy and stomped his guts out (a tourist). That was 3 years ago on Kuhio Ave in the middle of hundreds of people.

Don't write checks your ass can't cash and we can all get along just fine. You think I'm a N*****, cool; just don't let me hear it come out of your mouth.. If it does, you'll get what's coming to you. I don't know why that's so hard to understand, or what this debate is even about. You want me to agree that insults cannot beget violence? I completely disagree. Once someone calls you something like that, there is nothing left to discuss.

Insults beget violence because you have no self control.

That's what this debate is about.

No, the debate is about your personal ethics applying to others.

You think I lack self control, but in fact the opposite is true, it takes quite a bit of control to decidedly wipe the floor with someone. You assume it's an act of rage, but it isn't.

Again, for the umpteenth time, I reject your personal moral code if you think any insult, regardless of severity, does not warrant a physical response. I cannot be clearer on this.

I miss the good ole' days (I'm 32) when you could just get in a fight and one person won, the other lost, and that was it. I was in a couple fights in high school (grad. 2001) and that's how it went. There didn't used to be this huge shame in losing a fight. At least you fought and defended yourself, stood up for yourself.

The biggest thing that scares me about this scenario in today's society is the open willingness to pull a gun. You can't just beat someones ass, get your ass beat, or somewhere in between. It seems like someone has to "win" and if you beat someones ass, they will pull a gun. Get a moment of road rage and call someone an expletive, they don't just curse you back and move on, they follow you and pull a gun.

Today, with a wife and daughter that depend on me, I fear having to fight someone because of this. People are fucking crazy nowadays and there is no gaurantee that a simple disagreement won't lead to someone pulling a gun and getting stupid....

Agreed.

the only time I want a gun is while Im driving (which is most of the time).

nothing special, I just wanna flash it when someone cuts me off, then slows down, I pass them and they continue to fuck around on the road. Just so they know.

everyone is tough in the car. Ive told more people to pull over than I can count. They just speed away in their douchemobiles.

Sorry for the on topic post, but an assistant coach was just put on leave for possibly suggesting retaliation against the ref. He's the defensive back coach. He allegedly told his players - "that guy needs to pay for cheating us" after the ref ejected two players.

God made men, Sam Colt made them equal.

"Ass-beatings" sound cool, and like no big deal, but the truth is that people still can still get seriously messed up, even killed, by an "ass-beating". The brother of an old girlfriend of mine was permanently disabled, with brain damage, because two guys decided to fight him in a Denny's. He lost.

There's nothing you can do if someone just assaults you, but you can reduce your chance of getting shot by not thinking that beating someone else's ass is okay. But if you decide to beat someone's ass because they said something that pissed you off, or "disrespected you", fine. But if the little guy pulls out the equalizer, it's your own damn fault.

Personally, I think the whole culture of beating someone's ass at verbal provocation or "disrespect" is a major problem in a lot of our more violent cities. A lot of these shootings are because someone feels insulted or disrespected by someone else, and shit gets out of hand.

enough wrinkles, who are we burning at the stake?

I can safely say there is no single thing someone could SAY to me OR my wife and kid that would lead to me fighting them. The first thought in my mind wouldn't even be whether I could take the guy. It would be a flash of all of the horrible outcomes of me fighting him, including getting sued, getting jumped by his friends, getting shot, getting severely injured or dying, etc. There would be one positive outcome... Me beating the guy up. And that doesn't get me far enough to take the other risks. And this also wouldn't impress my wife as we've been through the macho defense bullshit before and she absolutely hated it. She's too rational for it.

I'd simply remove myself, wife and/or kid from the situation.

I understand why others would fight under the same circumstances I wouldn't. But that's your lives to lead and consequences to deal with. Whatever.

With that said, I'd have a very difficult time not beating the shit out of someone if they intentionally hurt my wife in any sense. But then I have the self- defense excuse at my hands.

If anyone intentionally hurt my son in any serious manner ie molestation, rape, etc I would find a way to kill them without getting caught. And I do say that with 100% confidence. I would prefer to be able to torture them for an extended period of time, but killing someone while looking in their eyes would work.

Hoe-type shit

On another topic entirely, just taking the temperature...

Does anyone ever have fantasies (I guess that's the word) of tracking down people who have committed serious wrongs (rape, molestation, murder of innocents, etc) and torturing them?

Like I've gotten as far as specific things I'd do to torture someone. I'm talking strictly in the sense of the worst of the worst of society, but namely people who have harmed others in irreversible ways.

Yeah, that's pretty much 100% in line with how I'd handle all those situations.
