Open Discussion (Cavs + related issues)

Drugs mixed with mental illness is a hell of thing.

One of the worst trades in history from a value standpoint?

I have never been too bullish on Cousins as a franchise centerpiece, but Vivek and Vlade couldn't be more inept of a pairing and I honestly feel sorry for Kings fans. Buddy Hield as having "Steph Curry potential" is cringe-worthy.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Kings are actually better off in the long run without Cousins, because he is so incredibly polarizing in the locker room from all reports (and on the floor for that matter) ... but holy jebus, this return is like getting two cents on the dollar.

I've never been happier to have Griff as our GM and Gilbert as our owner. My condolences to those in Sacramento.

The Kings could be trotting out a big 3 of Thomas, Cousins, & Whiteside right now.

This is one of those moments where we have to bow our heads and thank somebody upstairs that Gilbert is the Cavs' owner. He hasn't been perfect, but he's written plenty of big checks without being too meddlesome, and that's all I can ask of an owner.

If we were Kings fans, we'd be jumping off whatever Sacramento's equivalent is to the I-480 bridge right about now.

"Source familiar with Kings thinking" is hardly a legit source. The "source" clearly doesnt work for the Kings or have any meaningful position with the nba/any other team. Otherwise he would have mentioned it. This reeks of terrible nba media doing lazy if not dishonest reporting. Remember there are still lots of (dumb) people who think the cavs wouldnt give up wally for amare because espn reported it and took way too long to admit they were wrong. Its best to use common sense when hacky media uses vague sources for something that makes no sense.

Could have also drafted Lillard over Thomas Robinson and likely several other draft missteps after getting Cousins in 2010

It's not just that ... it is genuinely helpful role guys that they've let walk while consistently choosing to keep the wrong players. Or, maybe guys need to get away from the Kings to become helpful?

Catch-22?

Patrick Patterson, Garrett Temple, James Johnson, Spencer Hawes... dare I say, Nik Stauskas?

In other words, good to decent rotation players. They are the Browns-level bad deadly trifecta of being terrible at spotting/drafting talent high in the lottery, and equally repugnant at developing/recognizing the potentially good players already on their roster and... the trades. OMG the trades. That's really where they separate themselves from maybe even the Browns in terms of dysfunction.

If LeBron hadn't decided to come back, I have a feeling we'd think very differently about Gilbert's involvement in the draft/trades/free agency.

Gilbert hasn't been perfect, true. But the past couple of seasons, Gilbert has pretty much stepped aside and let Griff do his thing, while writing historically large checks. Forbes reported a few weeks ago that Gilbert lost ~$40 million last season. Yet Gilbert greenlighted an even bigger payroll for this season.

We've seen some truly shitty owners in Cleveland sports. Gilbert is far from one of them.
