Upgrade at PF or SG? which do we need more?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Take Pierce and James out of the game - could the Cavs beat the Celtics?

We couldn't beat the OKC Thunder without LBJ.

I think we need a SG much more.

The way I see it, one of our best players is a PF in AV and Ben is a good role player. Plus we have JJ and Darnell, along with Lebron being able to play spot minutes there. We could use another big man off the bench for some depth and scoring though.

I'm not content with out SG's at all, however. I still say West is too small and it will be difficult for us to win a championship with him as a starter. I won't rule out Sasha yet, but he's still a mystery. Wally is a forward.

We need a Center more than PF. That C can slide over to PF for this year and then next we can put Z on the bench and start AV at PF and the big guy we got at C.

ironically, deshawn stevenson would be perfect at the 2 for us LOL. no way it happens though. we need a scorer down low with a defender/3pt shooter at the 2

Deshawn Stevenson? How do you figure that? We don't need marginal upgrades, or just any upgrade. Stevenson is a role player and the cavs have to many role players. We really need another star quality player on this team and since the SG position is the biggest weakness, then a star quality SG is what the cavs need. We will not beat a team like Boston, Spurs,
Rockets, or L.A., if we just get a marginal SG like Stevenson, Bell, or even Mike Miller. We need another superstar. Look at some of these other teams and they are stacked with star quality players. It's time we fight fire with fire and stop thinking marginal players like Bell or Mike Miller is going to allow us to be a ridiculously talented team like L.A., whom which has almost 4 all-stars.

We need someone like Raja Bell or Mo pete at sg....not that either is avialable. Salmons would be perfect, he has been mentioned, but i doubt he is actually available. Carter might just make us too perimeter oriented, but it work out well for the bulls, lol. The upgrade at center is what we really need, but I am not sure if its available. The best two players that can play center that might be avialble are Darko and Collison. Both would be good options to play past Z retirement. I would lean toward Darko, as I think his better days are still ahead, and is underrated defensively.

In the end, it all comes down to what is available if anything come trade deadline time when Ferry makes calls.

Mo Pete and Raja bell are almost lateral moves. Players like this will not make us better than the likes of Houston, L.A., and Boston. This is what you don't get. Carter makes us to perimeter? That sounds almost comcial when you consider our backcourt situation right now. We are already to perimeter since most of our guards are JUMP SHOOTERS, but I guess you haven't noticed. Besides of Mo, none of our guards can take it to the bucket with decent success. Also Carter does have a nice post-up game, and can drive so I'm not sure where this 'to perimeter' comment even comes from. Darko? Collison? lol....Yeah, ok....We need some star quality players. U don't win championships with a sh*t load of role players. Boston should be a good example for you. The Celts was garbage, they get 2 more stars and they are NBA Champions. If you think the Cavs is going to get Raja Bell and become champs, then you are totally wrong.

Actually you are wrong. We have some guy that all past championship teams have and he can lead a cast of scrubs. We need to upgrade our two holes whether we get Raja Bell or Joe Johnson. Bell's better than Pavs. Also Darko would be good because he's got the one thing you can't teach SIZE.

So you saying lebron can lead a cast of scrubs to a championship? If that's the case then we wouldn't have got man-handle by the Spurs. Joe Johnson is not happening, that's more of a fantasy. I'm not sure why you think teams is just going to give up their best player. Do teams expect us to trade them Lebron if we struggle? I'm not saying Joe is up there with Lebron but he's there "go-to guy". Raja Bell is going to get us over the top? lol. Keep dreaming. Darko? lol. Your basket knowledge is pretty limited.

Not really. If we can't get a star like you want which you just admitted we won't then how can we improve the roster? I'll tell you it's simple just pick up a nice piece that is complimentary. Maybe a 2010 expiring. We need to improve the roster period. If we can't get an amazing player then it's real simple to understand just pick up a player that is better than the one we are giving away, which Raja Bell fits that bill, so does Darko. And Darko would be a 2010 expiring, and a long term replacement for Z. So apperently your knowledge is pretty limited.

We definitely need a PF. A good SG would be a nice consolation prize and would make us better, but a good PF would put us over the top.

Yes we do but if the best available is a SG i'd take it.

Those guys would not be lateral moves, they are alot more consistant and heady players than pavs and they can guard taller wing players unlike west. That being said, if its carter vs geting dark and a raja Bell or something like that, i would think twice about just carter. Here is the thing though, with our assets the way they are, carter is a real possibility, but a marginal upgrade at sg isnt. We make the trade if available, hope we resign AV (do everything in our power to get a deal done, even over pay at this point)...hope jj developes, and see what we can get for Ben next year. We might not be as deep in the frontcourt as we want, but what team is. I think carter might be the best we are going to get, and should welcome the possibiliies with open arms, I was just refering in a perfect world. I am worried if we do get him not having enough balls to make him, lebron and mo happy. If carter isnt happy, he doesnt play well or try hard. That said, championship runs have a way of healing all wounds and its a chance imo worth taking.
