Game #48| Cavs @ Knicks| Wednesday Feb. 4th, 2009| 7:30pm [ET]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
James scored a season-high 52 points in his 21st career triple-double, joined Jordan as the only players with multiple 50-point games at the present Madison Square Garden, and led Cleveland to a 107-102 victory over New York on Wednesday night.

Two nights after Bryant set a record at the present building with 61 points, James was on pace to break it after scoring 20 in the first quarter.

He added 11 assists and 10 rebounds, becoming the first player since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to have a triple-double in a 50-point game. James grabbed his final rebound with under 2 seconds left, then tumbled out of bounds as time expired

People need to remember 15 of Kobes points came in the 4th. When he came in the Lakers were up 12. Not to mention he had 3 ASSISTS LOL

triple double > selfish kob-me basketball

Did you even watch the game? This thing was all about LeBron's stats from tipoff.

Nice achievement, but this is going to get us drenched in fail if we play like this against LA.

A-ha, it seems Kareem did not get a triple double when he topped fifty... he was shy on the rebounds.

**Crap, that was 1986 on. I'm still working on this guys.

don't sweat it appreciated nonetheless, you're the man keys.

Something i noticed during the game that annoyed me. Z was playing Gallo and Ben was playing Lee. Why not switch it around, i knew Gallo was gonna go at Z because he was too slow.

THey said it was on Jan. 19, 1975. That probably means it has happened 2x since they have been keeping track

yep i watched it from the tip to the buzzer. he came out aggressive but far from stat padding let's be real here.

knicks and lakers, two totally different beasts. why would a smart player like lebron attempt to play every team the same exact way? he's the master of making adjustments.

Unbelievable performance by LeBron. It's nice to win a back-to-back on the road. 30 games above .500. PIP might get his 40 wins before double-digit losses.......

BUT.........................and alot of you will give me crap about this because I'm going to be the "downer."

We were on the edge of our seats until the end because LeBron went out there to "put on a show" first. Period.

Even as he was pouring it on in the first quarter, I was looking at the game within the game. There was absolutely ZERO flow to our offensive game. ZERO.

Tonight's performance by LeBron was one of his best, and a 50 point triple double doesn't happen every decade. But, why do I have a feeling that if this game were at the Q (or anywhere besides MSG) LeBron would have had his usual 32-7-8ish game and we would have put that SAD SACK team away after three quarters like we should have.

LeBron is IMO the best player in the game and the second best I've seen (MJ). He is the reason we are 39-9, I don't deny that. But, as crazy as this sounds, we almost pissed away a game against a piss-poor team so LeBron could get some "oohs and aahs." This is without a doubt the most "discouraging win" of the season. It was all about LeBron from the get-go.

It's always great to get the win and the Cavs did what they had to do to get it but this is not the way they need to play. Right from the start I didn't like the way they were playing tonight. LeBron seemed to get caught up in the hype and the talk of Kobe's game. He dominated the ball and which led to stagnant offense and stagnant play all around for stretches. This isn't the way LeBron plays when he's at his best and the way the Cavs need to play to be at their best. Id rather not see 1 on 5 basketball and LeBron having to play 44 minutes to hold on to beat a team like the Knicks.

Not to take anything away from LeBron's night and numbers. He is phenomenal. The Cavs are just better and can handle opponents better when there's more player and ball movement and more people get involved. I do think it's just one of those nights and the important thing is getting a win.

The offense wasn't our problem. Our defense was giving up jump shots left and right.

I think it had to be expected with Lebron playing at MSG....

He is always gonna wanna put on a show in New York and in front of Jazy Z. Its not really a big deal imo, i did cringe at times when he started jacking up a bunch of jumpers lol. But i was fine with this one as long as we won because again i knew it was coming.

The master of making adjustments played LeISO for every minute he was in the game. That's not making adjustments, that's competing with Kobe in the greatest city in the world. He was there to put on a show. And because of that, we were in a VERY close game with a Knicks team we should've beaten by at least 15. He went outside of what has worked this season, and against a good team we would have been slaughtered.

eh, every once in awhile i dont mind this. Pretty amazing that lebron can say"okay, tonight i'm getting 50 or 60" then does.

i've never owned a pair of rose colored glasses....

but i fail to see how anyone can find a negative in what lebron did for the team tonight. yes he came out aggressive on offense but never did he lose sight of keeping guys involved. heck he might have had five MORE assists if guys knocked down shots.

sometimes you just can't win if you're lebron. you share the ball and they call you passive...you play aggressive and get accused of putting on a show. SMH

"I see your 50+ game Mr. Bryant, and raise you a triple double." Seriously, it looks like Lebron is just toying with the game.

On another note, anyone else notice how Lebron went out of his way to mention how "This is the greatest place to play on Earth" with his interview with AC? I love the guy, but he sure does like to stir the pot.

Did Al Harrington's ZERO assists stand out to anyone else?
