15th Roster Spot?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nate is awesome and would certainly provide something, though his role would be much like how I perceive JR's to be once we get everyone back. 6th man, dynamic scorer, can go bananas. I think we likely need another big more than another streaky 6th man.

I can not believe I see people here saying we should get A'mare. He's NEVER been that good and has been terrible for years now. NO D, soft, bad attitude. He thrived in the Nash/D'Antoni world, but is pretty much useless at this point.

I still think it should be dally just because he fills a glaring hole as a backup center. Or I would take a chance on Nate wolters if he does not last through his next 10 day contract. The obvious needs are backup pg and center so hopefully one of those guys.

I also would be ok with someone who is gritty and would be willing to knock some teeth and get dirty like an Ivan Johnson or Patric Young. Either or really.

I like Nate a lot too - and he would bring the fire we severely need. But I think we need another big first. Can we create another roster spot? Or just 1 left?

we can send Harris or Delly to the D League i think

there are other needs above "fire" though.

it's just really hard to get on board with bringing another shoot-first pg into an offense that is already a mess and not designed to fully utilize the current players and their skillsets. especially when said shoot-first pg doesn't bring much else (and has been terrible this season).

d-league still counts as a roster spot for them.

Knick's say they'll buy out Amar'e if he wants to leave

edit- not sure if this means anything for the Cavs but

If we're truly going to make a run at an Eastern conference title, then I would like to see the following moves made.

Out = Joe Harris

In = Tayshaun Prince
In = Jermaine O'Neal or Dalembert

Something like that.

I like Harris, but he's not going to help us win this year.

Prince has had some ok games this year. I'm not saying he would be with the team next year, but I would rather have Prince playing perimeter defense than someone like Miller or Jones.

Getting O'Neal or Dalembert (or someone similar) means we don't have to rely on Tristan as a backup center and we can have some real height/bulk and shotblocking on the court at all times.

None of LeBron's guys is going to be cut or waived. So that eliminates Jones and Miller. We have one roster spot open now, and if we offload Harris that becomes two spots.

We also could use another point guard but that might have to wait until the summer. I would rather have another center and another perimeter defender before getting another point guard.

Getting rid of Harris? Nah man, he could easily develop into a player who'd make a lot of teams rotations. His 3 point shot has already been looking very good and he has great size, cheap contract as well. With some development(more NBA experience) a lot of teams would be interested in him.

I know what you mean about opening another roster spot, but you can't get rid of Harris. He is literally THE ONLY young player we have with a bright future.

Referencing the Sirius XM radio channel - the guys were talking last night about what's wrong with the Cavs, and among a myriad of other things (as we've been discussing), they both discussed at-length how the Cavs are the only team that doesn't have the young guys coming in to give a punch off the bench. Every other team has that. We have Thompson and Harris, that's it. And neither are those types of tough-minded, gritty players who can score. They named so many players on other teams that just do the intangibles that we just flat out do not have.

Basically, the more I hear and the more I think about it, I am not crazy about any of these players on this team. Crazy to think about, but I'm coming to that realization.

Cavs have always needed someone who can spot-up and shoot long range.
They always jettison those types only to try to go out and find those types of players again.
Why keep doing this treadmill crap every year?
Keep young outside shooters on the roster.
Every playoff team has at least one or two of those to use.

Need to keep Joey Buckets! Young, decent shooter who will get better plus don't want to cut the guy and end up seeing him become a Danny Green for a different team. There is other old scrubs we could cut on this team a la Jones to make room for some more immediate help...
