2010 Indians Game Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have been a staunch defender of Shaprio. I think this is pretty clear. HOWEVU, putting the likes of Hernandez, Nix, etc on this team when we're suppose to be rebuilding just pisses me off to no end.
And it's not an indictment on Hernandez (who has played pretty well to be honest) or Nix. They're journey men who will not help this team out in the long run. And it sucks or JRodriguez and Kipnis. JRod got demoted to make room for Valbuena and Kipnis will now see spot time. It's bullshit.

Rodriguez was moved back to Columbus when LaPorta was recalled. Apparently the Tribe knew they were going to be moving Branyan soon and Rodriguez got the temporary bump to AA. It was nothing more than that. Not to mention that he DHed in Akron anyway and never had any impact on Kipnis nor would he have.

What I don't get is this- why are folks up in arms about a guy who wasn't even a prospect 5 weeks ago? Rodriguez is at best a future utility player. Asdrubal Cabrera is expected back in a few weeks, at which time Nix gets DFA'd, Cabrera goes to SS and Donald goes to 2B. Who the utility man is is irrelevant b/c they shouldn't be seeing the field. The Indians only have so many spots to give guys looks. I just don't see the 2-3 weeks of available playing time being enough to evaluate Rodriguez, so I don't see it justifying putting him on the 40-man at this time. Now, if Cabrera doesn't come back in a few weeks? Then I think a case can be made, but with 2 other better prospects to evaluate ahead of him (Donald, Valbuena) I just don't see time to get a read on him.

If Asdrubal is healthy, were not talking about Nix and Hernandez right now. Im sold on Donald over Valbuena.

If Cabrera comes back this season which he is right? We have a good future with Donald at 2nd, he's pretty damn solid and will make noise on a rebuilding team and hopefully grow into a legit Major Leaguer.

Im probably in the minorities here but anyone having thoughts of dealing Sizemore? Brantley, Choo, and Crowe will look good out there next year.

I can't wait for next years spring training. Next year will have some meaning. Hopefully these kids are hungry.

Anyone have ideas of the Tribe's projected lineup next year?

SS - Cabrera

Damn we suck. :(

All depends on whether or not they act like it.

If they can get Sizemore back to anything resembling healthy, the lineup should be OK.

Even move him to the 3 hole and go with a Choo, Sizemore, Santana 2-3-4 which wouldn't be half bad.

The pitching is what concerns me. They need to add a veteran starter.

Agreed. It's too bad Sizemore seems injury prone as his value has declined lately. I'm all for trading this guy when we are able. I just haven't bought the hype with him over the years. His arm is below average. His speed his average. His power is above average when healthy. His batting average is always below being real good. What about him is so special? I don't see it. We have so many good outfield prospects. So damn many. Let's not forget Jordan Brown... you know, the guy who won the batting title down there last year? He can play the corner OF spots and also 1st base. We have MANY potentials in AAA and AA.

Mike Rouse disagrees

So we can still go with 'almost rarely'. That doesn't change anything about my point.

You couldn't see what was special about Sizemore? Baserunning. Among guys who played up the middle positions, he was 3rd in OPS from 2005-2008. To suggest that his speed was just average is ludicrous. To mention his arm but not his ability to get on base is preposterous. We do have some good outfield prospects. Jordan Brown is not one of them though. He's a below average outfielder at the AAA level, it won't be any easier to hide that at the majors. And his batting line is completely contact-dependent. He doesn't have the discpline/patience or real power (he has some doubles power though) to make pitchers pay. What happens when balls-in-play only fall in at a .300 clip instead of .370 clip for him? What's happening this year, he looks far from a major leaguer. If we look at his entire AAA line, we only see an .816 OPS, when he's starting to get old for his level, and for a 1B/poor-fielding LF, that just unlikely to cut it at the next level.

LaPorta with a bomb to dead center. Now that's damn nice to see.

I cannot believe how bad our fielding is. It just doesn't seem possible. Every time I watch there is an error or passed ball/wild pitch that causes runs to score.

R Perez finally looking decent. Guess what?... it's Woody time again.

LaPorta got a double yesterday just missing an HR, mashes one tonight. Maybe he's on track...

Wood is going to mess around and find himself traded to a team in contention.

Wood is picking up his game to impress contending teams to trade for him so he can get out of Cleveland
