2010 Indians Game Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Next year will be interesting in the outfield. Crowe isn't doing too bad, but how long do we keep Brantley held back? I believe the rest of this year is going to tell us a lot about Crowe. Either way we will probably see both Brantley and Crowe battling it out for LF. Does one of them ride the bench next year? Does one stay in AAA to play every day? Sizemore gets CF of course. Choo gets RF. LF will be interesting. I think Brantley is the better long term guy with the most talent.

So we can still go with 'almost rarely'. That doesn't change anything about my point.

You couldn't see what was special about Sizemore? Baserunning. Among guys who played up the middle positions, he was 3rd in OPS from 2005-2008. To suggest that his speed was just average is ludicrous. To mention his arm but not his ability to get on base is preposterous. We do have some good outfield prospects. Jordan Brown is not one of them though. He's a below average outfielder at the AAA level, it won't be any easier to hide that at the majors. And his batting line is completely contact-dependent. He doesn't have the discpline/patience or real power (he has some doubles power though) to make pitchers pay. What happens when balls-in-play only fall in at a .300 clip instead of .370 clip for him? What's happening this year, he looks far from a major leaguer. If we look at his entire AAA line, we only see an .816 OPS, when he's starting to get old for his level, and for a 1B/poor-fielding LF, that just unlikely to cut it at the next level.

Ricky Gutierrez, Hector Luna, Joe Inglett and Ramon Vazquez share in Mike Rouse's disapproval, but I digress.

I see Crowe ending up being a 4th OF. After this knee surgery, who knows how it's going to effect Gradys speed. If it does, I would just put him in LF (make it easy on him) and put Brantley at CF.

If only we could let Choo and Santana bat every time..... Choo killed that homer.

Indians are 1 game above .500 in the last 15, despite having a 7 game losing streak.

Think about that.

Think about this.

Droobs
Choo
Santana
LaPorta

That's freaking amazing right there. If Sizemore could ever come back healthy or Chisenhall pans out, we definitely have MLB hitting on this team.

Chris Perez did his best Wyatt Earp impression tonight. Kid is definately a gunslinger.

Agree, and let's not forget about Hafner, who seems to be coming around slowly. If he can show steady improvement and come back healthy next season, we have a nice power core in our lineup.

If Stephen Strasburg can be named to pitch in the All Star game, then Carlos Santana can be named to be the backup catcher for same game.

You and I have FAR different definitions of "amazing".:chuckles:

I don't think we will ever see Sizemore rise to the hype he had a few years ago. We have to understand this knee surgery he had is horrible stuff. Will he keep his speed? I highly doubt it. I don't believe we will be counting on him and why we need to get Brantley up here soon. He's been hitting and running real well lately. I just don't see Sizemore a part of the future anymore.

LaPorta is starting to excite me though. Santana excited from his first game. We have some very good young kids as the future. Cut ties with Marte SOON. Get rid of Peralta, Redmond, etc. I'm torn with Westbrook now, but I would assume it depends on what other teams are willing to offer by July 31st.

Good news on the Cabrera front from Castrovince:

castrovince SS Asdrubal Cabrera began taking swings yesterday. Aiming to go on a rehab assignment the week after the All-Star break.

LaPorta with his third HR in as many games! Then Shelly Duncan follows with a bomb of his own.
