2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Too many on this board are short sighted about building a championship team. With someone like Drummond you spend a couple years developing them, and then reap the rewards like Orlando did once Howard established himself as a dominator in the paint.

If he is on the board you take him regardless of who else is left. We can find an undersized shooting guard anytime (MKG I could deal with though), but to find a big with Dwight Howard type athleticism who is still only 18 is the type of things that come back and haunt franchises when they are aonly a piece away and it happens to be a center.

We have been through that before trotting out washed up veterans (Z/Wallace/Shaq) when we were on the verge of a title. I am surprised to see that experience (and how hard a position it is to fill) didn't seem to change the minds of many around here who seem disinterested in a legit, young, high ceiling center we could groom (JV last year we also passed on).

Like others have said, if it were just a matter of wait a couple years and you have the next Dwight Howard, Drummond would be taken 1st/2nd. We have no idea if he will ever put it together on the court. And considering how easy it is to get 2-guards in this league, I'm surprised we've only come up with Anthony Parker, Larry Hughes, and Christian Eyenga. I suppose Dwest filled the role well during his short stay.

All i have to say about barnes is that he is still incredibly young and it is my own worst case scenario with us taking him...... however with a PG like Kyrie there is no way Barnes could not continue to develop. All reports say the dude works hard and is a solid defender. I mean are you telling me you dont think he will get better with his ball handling and be motivated by our Amazing coach and PG to be more agressive? Even our worst case scenario in my own opinion isnt that bad...

All of this Barnes talk is making me a bit nauseous. I thought with getting the No. 4 overall pick, any and all conversation about taking him would cease, since he is being projected around 7-9 in most mocks. However, it seems he is back with a vengeance and I don't understand why.

We are all entitled to our own opinions on here, but I simply do not see anything in him that makes me the least bit interested. A brand-obsessed, non-athletic spot-up shooting small forward? No thank you.

Hardly anyone here wants to draft Barnes at all. Some people are just fearful that the Cavs are interested in him at #4.

The post above mine looks to the contrary and I've seen many others on here with a similar tone. My greatest fear is that Grant has a secret crush on Barnes and that is why he seemed so excited to get the No. 4 spot... Because it is high enough to where Barnes will absolutely still be on the board, but low enough so that picking him won't be a complete shock to the basketball world.

Hopefully I'm just reading too far into a very natural reaction to a good spot to pick from.

I didn't want barnes to being with but what can i say? honestly if it goes Davis MKG and Beal i want Perry Jones i dont care where we are drafting thtats who i want :p Or lamb would be nice :D Either of those two over barnes is fine with me :)

Read more posts - most people despise the idea of drafting him. :chuckles:

FWIW, one of the highly regarded RCF posters (maybe Max? I forget) said about a month back that Barnes is no longer in the Cavs top 5. Things can change since that time, but that at least tells me that that the Cavs management have significantly cooled off on Barnes. I'm hopeful that's the case.

I would much rather have PJ3 than Barnes. Lamb is a nice player, but he isn't going at 4. I actually think that PJ3 has the upside to warrant a pick that high... And, once the workouts and combine get going and his measurables and talent show themselves, he could climb up the draft board significantly.

I thought I remembered reading that, but I dismissed it as a fever dream since everyone and their mother continues to say how much the Cavs love Barnes.

If the team seriously wants Barnes it would be smart to trade with Portland (4 and both 2nd rounders) and grab Barnes and Rivers or something.

They have an obsession with 2 players, neither of which is Barnes. Barnes hasn't been in their top 5 in months.

There's your quote, folks!

Those "2 players" that they had an obsession with (according to Max) at the time of that post were Davis and MKG

Basically, that would be my nightmare.

(Rivers + Barnes) = (Me + 480 Bridge)

Does anyone remember a comment a month or so ago about the Cavs really liking Drummond? Trying to determine if I imagined that or not.

is maximus part of the cavs organization?

also, I like henry tuttles avitar
