2012 NFL Draft Day 2 Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Don't you think the Rams are taking one of those two right off the bat?

EDIT: And Indy or Denver I guess are threats to take a WR..

Agreed. This is my point too. If both Randle and Hill are gone, what do you do? Do you take the next best WR (which could be Jeffrey) or do you take one of the stud OTs that slipped?

WR and OL need to be addressed today, no doubt.

I'll take the physicality of Randle over any receiver not named Floyd in this draft. I like the idea of lining a guy like Randle up with Little and Ben Watson. Add in Trent Richardson and that's AFC North football the way it was meant to be played.
The O line talent is deep this year, even after Glenn and Massie are off the board. There are plenty of receivers too, but after Hill and Randle are gone, there's going to be a drop off. I'd like to stay pat at 37, but the truth is, if we want Randle, we probably need to move up a few spots.

If Hill or Randle are off the board by 37 I wait out to the 3rd round to get a WR. Perhaps a guy like Brian Quick is there at 67. If not we're looking at a true slot receiver like Joe Adams or Ty Hilton. If that's the case, Mo Mass and Greg Little are your outside receivers next year. Carlton Mitchell too!

Ryan Broyles. I'm pulling for a Glenn/Broyles night.

People don't realize that attaching McCoy to a draft pick actually reduces the value of the pick. It's like Family Guy when Peter tried to buy Roadhouse and the guy was trying to include the Best of Robin Williams.

I have no choice but to put faith in this guy but it just doesn't make sense to me. This is a win right now move. A move where you don't have the time to wait for him to develop for 2-3 years. Which is a contrast to everything that we have done prior to that pick. Everything was building, finding pieces methodically, trading down. No veteran players or free agents to speed up the rebuild or make us more competitive.

Now all of a sudden you take this guy and he's 29 before he plays a game. You don't have the luxury of building slowly around him like Luck, Griffin, or RG3. That's why Winston would have filled a dire need at RT. That's why getting a WR would take pressure off in this draft. It just doesn't make sense and the reason I don't like it is because it seems like a panic move. That 6-10 or 7-9 sounds better than 4-12 despite having a legitimate guy to build around. Had they filled some holes in Free Agency and added some proven veteran help on offense I'm not as mad.

I just feel like this is a team that is going to take a lot of time and Weeden just doesn't have that kind of time. He's more of a fit for the Chiefs who are built to win now. Not the Browns who likely need another draft or two before we're even 8-8 or 9-7.

Doesn't Weeden turn 29 in week 6 of the season? In that case he should have 9 or 10 games under his belt before he turns 29.

Actually, correction, I don't want Broyles tonight, but on day 3, in the fourth round. That's where most of his value is since he's slipped pretty far due to his knee surgery.

Randle in Round 2
Schwartz in Round 3

With guys coming back faster and almost performing at the same level now a days after an ACL injury I'd take a chance on Broyles in the 3rd. Adrian Peterson is already doing sprints and beating his teammates. Broyles ran a 4.57 5 months after he tore his ACL. He is on the shorter side at 5'10 but after missing 4 games he still put up 83 catches, 1157 yds, and 10 td's. He's also a 2 time All-American. You don't chance it taking him in the 4th, you would have to grab him in the 3rd.

Claiborne is still in the green room. He couldn't read the name on his draft hat and still doesn't know who selected him.

Eh, Broyles is projected in the fourth, and there is a slew of receivers rated ahead of him. I like him, but I wait til the fourth to grab him, since our pick is pretty high anyways.

Mel Kiper's 2nd round mock...even he admits that it's a crap shoot.

have some fun. While a mock attempt at Round 2 is like a lottery ticket, here's one shot at how it could look based on needs, players certain teams like and some gut calls in a number of cases. Again, in the same manner as any mock, the important thing is to get a sense of where players are valued.

At this stage, teams will have a handful of guys they're probably trying to pick from at each spot, and we know some trades will come into play. But here's a shot. Again, this is for fun, but it should give you a good sense of value for the players.

St. Louis Rams
Cordy Glenn, G, Georgia They have a need at a couple of spots on the offensive line, and Glenn is versatile.

Indianapolis Colts
Coby Fleener, TE, StanfordColts need serious help on the D-line and at LB, but Fleener will tempt them.Baltimore Ravens (from Minnesota)
Courtney Upshaw, LB, Alabama Baltimore will love the value and needs an OLB. Upshaw is No. 25 on my Big Board.

Denver Broncos (from Tampa Bay)
Amini Silatolu, G, Midwestern St. I don't have it as a huge need, but the Broncos simply must become elite on the O-line.

Cleveland Browns
Stephen Hill *, WR, Georgia Tech They got a RB, then a QB. Time to find another piece of the puzzle on offense.

Jacksonville Jaguars
Vinny Curry, DE, MarshallThey really need a defensive end, and Curry is a productive one.

St. Louis Rams (from Washington)
Janoris Jenkins, CB, North AlabamaSomebody has to take the plunge on Jenkins' talent, which is top-10 worthy.

Carolina Panthers
Kendall Reyes, DT, Connecticut I actually had Reyes as a Round 1 guy in some mocks. Fills a big need here.

Buffalo Bills
Jonathan Martin *, T, Stanford Stock has dipped, but the tools are there. Buffalo can use him.

Miami Dolphins
Bobby Massie *, T, Ole Miss Another guy who could have come off the board in Round 1. Fits on right side.

Seattle Seahawks
Rueben Randle *, WR, LSU I'd like the Seahawks to add one more weapon to that offense. Randle will develop.

Kansas City Chiefs
Alshon Jeffery *, WR, South CarolinaA great red-zone target, Jeffery gives the Jets an added element.

St. Louis Rams (from Dallas)
Lavonte David, LB, Nebraska A tackling machine, he's a perfect weakside LB. Covers the field.

Philadelphia Eagles
Mychal Kendricks, LB, California A very good interior linebacker, he can join DeMeco Ryans to clean things up.

New York Jets
Jeff Allen, T/G, Illinois I think he'll move inside, but could see time as a right tackle.

New England Patriots (from Oakland)
Josh Robinson *, CB, Central Florida A total burner, once he nails down technique, has star potential.

San Diego Chargers
Alameda Ta'amu, NT, Washington A 3-4 nose tackle is a hard thing to find. Worth a shot here.

Chicago Bears
Zach Brown, LB, North Carolina Chicago's linebackers are a great group but an aging one. Here's some fresh help.

Philadelphia Eagles (from Arizona)
Kirk Cousins, QB, Michigan State I know Philly likes him and might take the leap here. Good guy to develop.

Tennessee Titans
Peter Konz *, C, Wisconsin The best center in the draft. Tennessee has a need there.

Cincinnati Bengals
Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma Looks like he's bouncing back well from an ACL injury. Round 1 talent.

Detroit Lions
Trumaine Johnson, CB, Montana The Lions have to get a corner, and Johnson is the best available.

Atlanta Falcons
Andre Branch, DT, Clemson Atlanta needs to add help at defensive end, and Branch is a solid value here.

Pittsburgh Steelers
Devon Still, DT, Penn State Discussed as a possibility for Round 1, I've always had Still in the second.

Denver Broncos
Brock Osweiler *, QB, Arizona State Denver needs insurance, and Osweiler could be good if he has time to learn. He will here.

Houston Texans
Brian Quick, WR, Appalachian St.One of the guys I've had higher on my board, he's the big target they need.

Green Bay Packers
Lamar Miller *, RB, Miami (FL) Green Bay needs a running back, and Miller can be explosive.

Baltimore Ravens
Derek Wolfe, DT, Cincinnati I've had Wolfe as a possible late-first pick. He's a versatile D-lineman.

San Francisco 49ers
Kelechi Osemele, G, Iowa State They got a WR, but the Niners still really need a guard.

New England Patriots
Jerel Worthy *, DT, Michigan St. Bill Belichick can bring it out of this kid. Worthy's a monster on his better days.

New York Giants
Mike Adams, T, Ohio State The Giants need a tackle, and Adams is a decent value here.
