2012 NFL Draft Rumor Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Good...hopefully somebody jumps us so we don't make the tragic mistake of mortgaging our future for a QB that will have zero chance of success in the offensive we system and the coach we have. This is not to say I don't think RGIII will be good. This is to say I have zero faith in Shurmur being able to make a playbook for his skill set.

He is like fitting a square peg in a triangle hole for us...it would be a disaster.

So our head coach and OC, who coached both Donovan McNabb and Tavaris Jackson, have no clue how to adapt their system to a mobile QB? Seriously?

How are we potentially mortgaging the future? That would be by trading picks in next years draft not the current one. Also if we have another season of Colt McCoy as our QB we are no better than 6-10 even with elite talent around him.

Re: RGIII “not being a good fit” for the WCO…

Question: Who are the five most successful WCO quarterbacks in history? Most would say Joe Montana, Steve Young, Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb and Aaron Rodgers. All of those guys were and are outstanding athletes and runners, guys who could improvise and make plays with their feet as well as their arms.

Matter of fact, Bill Walsh’s prototypical “Cincinnati offense” was designed to suit the skills of Virgil Carter, a journeyman quarterback whose main attributes were his intelligence… and his mobility.

So I really have no idea where this stuff about RGIII being a poor fit for the WCO came from. If anything his skills make him an ideal fit, far more than a poor one. And last I checked, a rifle arm and outstanding athleticism weren’t liabilities in any system.

"Mortgaging our future" to get RG3? Giving up the 22nd fucking pick is "mortgaging our future?" Who gives a fuck about the 22nd pick? I am sick of getting guys like Phil Taylor and Kam Wimbley. I want a difference maker for fucks sake. I want a guy that will get me excited to turn on the Browns game every Sunday. I don't give a fuck about the average/above average starter we might land with the 22nd pick.

Will Burge and TJ Zuppe were saying Washington has 12 picks this year but they only have 7 draft picks. Why do people think Washington has a shot at RG3?

Will Burge and TJ Zuppe were saying Washington has 12 picks this year so they may beat us in a trade. They only have 7 picks, and im pretty sure with us having 2 first round picks this year, we'll beat any offer Washington has to offer

Ummmm can you clarify this, I'm a little confused. Do they have 12 or 7 picks? And who is beating who in a trade? I can't figure out this post.

2012 picks for the redskins
1.6, 2.7, 3.6, 4.7, 4.14 (from OAK), 5.6, 7.6

If we draft RGIII we will most likely change our offensive playbook to fit his abilities. And Shurmur isnt the Offensive Coordinator anymore, Childress is.

Not positive, but I'm pretty sure when Childress got hired, I saw where Shurmer would still be doing the playcalling.

And playcalling matters how? When you have a QB like Colt you are very limited when you are a play caller.

If we would have just lost that stupid game against the Jaguars we wouldn't have had to trade anything, or worry about the Redskins.

Here's to hoping they land Peyton Manning.

Am I the only one who sees St. Louis as not so likely to trade with Washington? It is no secret that St. Louis wants Blackmon, case closed. But if they trade from 2 to 6 with Washington, the Browns will select Blackmon at 4 and St. Louis misses out, no?

Kind of a simple, yet interesting caveat to consider.

I think St. Louis wants Kalil to protect Bradford, why go from 2 to 4 when Minnesota will snatch up Kalil to protect Ponder

They want one of Blackmon or Kalil. At 6 Blackmon is better value. Top 5 not so much.
