Re: 2013 Mike Miller Thriller - Amnestied , Cavs interested ???

Jarrett Jack and potentially Andrew Bynum don't fall under 'better than average' though. Jack was instrumental for Golden State last season, and Bynum when healthy is a top-2 center in the NBA.

I'd say exactly the opposite. I feel the Cavs are building a team which can win a championship without LeBron.
You could compare Jack to Mo and Bynum to Shaq. I know Shaq was old but at least you knew he would play and Shaq was a top center in the NBA when he was younger.

Re: 2013 Mike Miller Thriller - Amnestied , Cavs interested ???

I want guys who want to be here. The fact that it suddenly and "randomly" leaked that Miller may get surgery or retire tells me all I need to know. Not worth it.

if he's claimed, he can't retire. He loses all of his money. If he's not claimed, he can retire and keep the money.

Re: 2013 Mike Miller Safari

The coon faq is the definitive reference for all salary cap issues. Here's what is says.

The only reason to delay signing Bynum is it gives us the option of trading Miles for a pick if we win the amnesty bid. But I suspect if we could trade Miles for a pick, we'd take that trade regardless of the results of amnesty.

And the number of teams that can bid are still limited, most teams have enough guaranteed contracts that they can't clear enough space to get under the cap by releasing players.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Cavs have delayed signing Andrew Bynum. Means they have still have cap space to bid for Mike Miller as Yahoo reported they're considering</p>&mdash; Brian Windhorst (@WindhorstESPN) <a href="https://twitter.com/WindhorstESPN/statuses/357641126351605760">July 17, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Yes we would still need to make cuts to make room if we won the bid, but you need to be eligible to make the bid 1st.

Re: 2013 Mike Miller Safari

Well I am going by Windy and it was also confirmed by THE PD, and Fear the Sword. If that was the case then any team could place a bid and then cut guys. There is a small list of teams that are allowed to bid and it is based on cap space. and specifically being under the cap. You are not allowed to put in a bid if you are over the cap.

Larry Coon is the most reliable source. KI4MVP, Douglar, and some other RCF regulars are also incredibly reliable when it comes to CBA stuff.

Windhorst often simplifies CBA things for mass readership (especially in tweets, then sometimes clarifies in print later), the PD is entirely unreliable, and Fear the Sword is not as trustworthy as the above sources.

It is definitely not worth your time arguing with KI4MVP unless you have a Larry Coon passage backing you up. The passage he quoted is the most definitive source posted.

Didn't Kobe demand a trade after being selected by Charlotte?

we absolutely don't have to do it that way. The coon faq is the definitive source.

Again, the only reason to do it that way is to leave open the option of trading Miles for a pick.

Um...yes. Did you pay attention to basketball pre-2008?
Give me a second to unlodge my foot from my mouth... Yes.

Any possibility that the Cavs made a move (e.g. let's say they picked up Miles option) without announcing it publicly? Or would that mean they would be entirely out of the running?

It seems strange to wait on Bynum/Miller just to be able to trade Miles for a pick. Is he actually worth a pick of note? I admit I am down on Miles and even less impressed by Miller. I just want this to be over.

Yes, please sign Bynum.

You don't have to be a godly crafted athlete or do anything else besides shoot the ball to be a game changer. Miles doesn't do this, so why not? Why not get a guy who can win you a game from downtown?

Miles had a game with 8 three pointers last season :dunno:

Re: 2013 Mike Miller Thriller - Amnestied , Cavs interested ???

Mike Miller has stop looking like an ugly woman with facial hair before I accept him as a Cavalier.

Re: 2013 Mike Miller Thriller - Amnestied , Cavs interested ???

Miller for $2 million is a great deal. The dude just needs to sit in the corner and hit 3s, and he's great at that. He's also a tough guy - played through a lot of pain, won a couple rings, seems like a great teammate.

The cherry on top is that Miami has to cover the rest of the salary for the next 2 years. I know that doesn't work against their cap or tax, but it is a f-you to Arison/Riley.
