2013 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Thanks for that info on Salazar.

Those numbers put me against the idea of him in the bullpen. Why risk any damage to his arm by introducing a different warm-up routine and high stress pitches with a short prep time?

It's not a reliever in the sense that Pestano or Perez are relievers.

They'll use him as a long-man, more than likely as a guy you're bringing in for a playoff like starter pull or to put out there in extras.

His pitch limit and leash they have him on suggest it's a possibility.

With the limitation they have on him per outing, and the probable innings cap, the only way he ends up helping here in Cleveland is as a reliever. Using him in spot duty like you mentioned would be the most likely scenario, although if he flourished I think the team would be hard pressed to leave him in a role like that.

He's thrown less than 100.0 innings so far this year.

He's good to go either way, IMO.

Took in the Mahoning Valley game tonight, got a good look at Dace Kime.

Very intriguing, one of the better curveballs you'll see at that level and looked to have decent control of it tonight. Mainly worked with his fastball through the first two innings allowing just an infield hit in his three innings.

Dace Kime could end up being a big time find for the Tribe. Scary thing is that despite his curveball being so good, his cutter is even better; a pitch he learned this year at UL. Someone in the Indians organization has been teaching the Tribe pitchers how to throw nasty cutters; Kazmir and Salazar have been tinkering w/ one this year, Kluber's is disgusting, Cody Anderson in Carolina picked one up this year and it's similar to Kluber's, and so have many of the minor leaguers. Kime is too good for SS ball but I love the fact that he's missing bats. Hopefully he can add a few more ticks to his fastball, he was 89-91 at the CWS but I know he can reach back to hit 95-96 so hopefully he can sit in that range going forward......

He was basically fastball/cutter through the first two innings, then dropped a hammer curve on some poor shmuck with two strikes who had literally no chance.

Impressive three innings, would have liked to seen more.

At the MV game tonight here in Maryland. Wanted to thank everyone for the thread updates so I knew who to watch

And that's why you don't give him up for a LOOGY.

He's a really good kid. Met him away from the ballpark before, lived with a host family here for a while. I'd love for him to figure it out at the MLB level.....

Just curious. At what league do players not stay with a host family? I know they do at Lake County, but wasnt sure passed that.

Pretty sure that option is on the table at all levels.

I don't know of one person during my time in Double-A or Triple-A who stayed with a host family. I knew one guy who lived in the clubhouse towards the end of the season because he was able to sublet his apartment. Don't think it happens that often past the lower levels.
