2013 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lindor probably gets the call at the end of 2014- but it could be sooner if/when they deal Asdrubal. I would have to think if he is raking in the minors and Mike Aviles is not up to par he could come up earlier. The super 2 stuff gets worried about too much, esp. when there is no guarantee that once a player is recalled that they will stick. Send them down once and all that waiting was a waste of time. IE Matt LaPorta. But I am digressing.... if Lindor is needed they will recall him. Maybe Ronny Rodriguez can play well enough at AAA to slow him down a little.

I'll probably go see the Ginger if he goes to Mahoning Valley.

Lindor wouldn't likely get called up much before mid June 2014 I'd think. Avoiding super 2 is generally pretty important.

I would hope they give him that kind of a challenge, at least for the last couple of weeks. Then again, 4/22 BB/K in 18 games in rookie league is something he may want to work on there before he faces better pitching.

At the Aeros game for dollar beer night. Lindor is 2-2 with a double and a HR. I'm psyched about it.

Trade Asdrubal and bring up Lindor right now.

I'm kidding.

Trade Asdrubal and bring up Lindor right now.

I'm kidding.

Shouldn't be, it's not that big of a stretch. I've spent the past two springs in AZ watching him, he's special. If the Indians want to be aggressive with him, he could keep his head above water in the MLB in another month or so. He doesn't need any time in Columbus; AAA isn't much different than AA, just older. His approach at the plate, defense, and maturity are all there, even if the physical tools are nowhere close to being developed (which is scary). As we've seen with Trout, Harper, Fernandez, Machado, etc., it's hard to keep an elite talent in the minors when they APPEAR to be ready to contribute with the MLB club. Those special players just find ways to succeed. It won't happen because of the contractual hurdles bringing Lindor up early would create but he'd contribute right now.....

It's not just the contractual hurdles, their best chance of winning this season is with a healthy Cabrera and Kipnis up the middle.

Lindor can play in the big leagues right now, but can't give you what Cabrera currently can. Since that's the case, you afford yourself the ability to maximize his six years of control by letting him get better and better.

Do you think he can give more production than Chisenhall? If so, than why can't they bring Lindor up and move either Lindor or Cabrera to 3B. At least that change would improve the team greatly defensively and offensively, at worst it would be the same as what Chisenhall is giving us.

I'm not convinced he produces more than Chisenhall, but Chisenhall is a prospect they need to stick with regardless. He's very talented.

1.) Cabrera has played 1 career game at 3B.

2.) Lindor has played 0.

3.) Chisenhall is hitting .293 since 6/21 (24 games) w/ 3 HR, 14 RBI, 8 D, 10 R, 6 BB, 12 K (82 AB.. 6.8 AB/K)

I'm definitely not advocating sliding everybody around right now and tossing Chisenhall aside, but do you know how many games Manny Machado played at 3B before he got called up?

Just 2, he was a full-time SS just like Lindor is now.

This might be something to consider next year, not now, and a lot can change between now and then. Chisenhall should, and will, get every opportunity to be our 3B moving forward.

Well, Machado has 109 AA games under his belt, while Lindor has all of 10.

Baltimore also had Wilson Betemit, a 30 year old proven part time player, starting at 3B & putting up a .923 Fielding %, so there was different circumstances.

They had little doubt that Machado could come in and hit & defend better than Betemit. They were already getting piss poor defense from a proven part time player, so they pretty much had nothing to lose.

Meanwhile, Chisenhall is still improving & is hitting better of late, so there's no guarantee Lindor would come up & hit so much better that you can live with it if he is awful defensively as well.

I know you're not advocating it, just trying to prove my point further

IMO all Lindor would do would come up and hit maybe .250 with 0hr and a couple stolen basses. We already have that with Stubbs and Bourn. We need someone with power if anything to make up for the blind man and our RF/1B hitting in the wrong spot of the lineup.

Eh, the sooner your bring up Lindor that just means the younger he ends up a Yankee. If you loved seeing Manny Ramirez spend his prime (28-29-30+) with the Red Sox, by all means, advocate Francisco Lindor to get called up at 18. The Tribe has to deal with reality and putting yourself in a situation where a player hits FA before their prime makes no sense for the team.

And as usually gets said, this team has more than one hole to fill. Sorry, but Chisenhall is not a problem in this lineup since his recall. His defense has been meh but the bullpen has also not done their part. I think the suggested moves of a trade for a older bat and a reliever would not only be attainable but would not be at the cost of stifling a young guy's development, especially a young guy that this team needs to pan if they want to contend in the next couple of years.

The interactive feature on MLB.com is pretty cool and I'd recommend checking it out. They rank the top 100 prospects in baseball, top 20 prospects for each team, and top 10 by position
