Sounds like Max Scherzer is going to the Nats.
 
Tigers in a weird spot - payroll this year is already higher than last year's - but they're so pot committed with an old and expensive core that I wouldn't be surprised if they gave Shields huge money on like a 4 yr deal.
 
The longer Shields hangs out there, the longer I believe some team is going to do something stupid.

Maybe Milwaukee?

For two years of Strasburg? I'd imagine the price starts with Lindor and a guy like Bauer.

It's a solid pass for me.
 
I think the Nats are just weighing his value now that there is only one starter really left on the market. I think Jordan Zimmermann is the more obvious trade candidate, with the Nats figuring to run out the string with Stephen.

I just don't see this happening. If they wanted to commit to 4 more years they would not have so many guys headed for FA. They are certainly pot committed but I don't think thier long term budget can really afford that. Now if Shields ends up settling then mayyyybe. But I think he has to really settle.
