2014-15 Off-Season Thread (Moss Acquired - Page 16)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

With Raburn / Murphy and lots of options in Columbus, not sure adding another meh bat really does anything. Raburn seems like a decent enough rebound candidate.

I don't think the bat would be of the major league contract variety, unless it's a trade. Steve Adams at MLBTradeRumors.com did mention the possibility of Rickie Weeks if he'd be willing to play 3B.

I think there's a better chance they use the remaining major league budget on a reliever. Francisco Rodriguez, Rafael Soriano, and Joba Chamberlain are still out there with Matt Lindstrom, David Aardsma, Brian Wilson, Matt Albers, Mike Adams, Burke Badenhop, and others likely available on minor league deals with incentives if they make the opening day roster. Albers was a solid part of our bullpen in 2013.

Woof, looking at some minor league deals here hopefully.

I would like to see Ludwick given a shot. The Rickie Weeks talk is tempting if he buys in to the idea of transitioning to 3b. I've always been a fan of Weeks though. I think bringing in guys to fight for the right handed bat bench job is the best option after the year Raburn had.

Andruw? As in Andruw Jones? Oof.

Edit: Apparently he has hit 50 HR over the last two seasons in Japan with an .833 OPS.

Looked good in Japan from most accounts.

Just slightly behind Wily Mo Pena...

The same Andruw Jones that batted .197 with 14 home runs at Yankee Stadium three years ago? Pass.

No way those old cranky knees are ready to go in April.

Sad because he will always be one of my favorite former players, but that's a big hit to their lineup if he has substantial lingering issues and that could put them in a big hole.

A 36 year old with prior knee surgeries ends up injuring his knee is offseason workouts? I'm shocked.

Didn't see it posted but Shields to San Diego. SD spent a lot of money this off season and made big moves. Will be interesting to see how they perform with SF and LA in their division.
