2014-15 Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Smith is still a good defender; he's not what he once was but is still effective.

Coincidentally or not coincidentally, Det had its best offensive game by far sans Smith scoring 119 on moderate pace. Its previous high was 106. Just in time to play us! Monroe and Drummond were all over the boards against a very good rebounding team.

The Bucks' win over the Hawks was surprising in the margin but not in the fact that ATL lost as all that effort to sustain wins against good teams would catch up with it.

Dudley, BTW: 10-10, 4-4 on 3s, 4 steals, 24 points.

The same MINN team that hurt us on the glass is getting killed by the Nuggets on the glass. Faried has 14 and the Bosnian Bear Nurkic has 6 in 8 minutes. He just has to stop fouling and he'll be a difference maker and make Mosgov expendable.

Anyone worried about the Spurs? I highly doubt they miss the playoffs, but with Phoenix running off a bunch in a row and Oklahoma City picking it up they are now actually close enough to dropping out at that it could be talked about.

No, but Pop won't be able to rest everyone all the time now either. Honestly, I think OKC would have been the runaway favorites if they didn't have to probably play four straight series on the road to win it all. Westbrook and Durant are two top 5 players and that team has everything on its roster: bigs, rim protection, defensive wings, rebounding, everything.

Josh Smith havin a night.

Adding Josh Smith to that team was just not fair. He had two key offensive rebounds in OT btw and held the paint down when Howard was out with foul trouble (you can tell they learned how to defend in the paint from the same person, with the way they move/rotate down there).

Smith had 21 points on 21 shots which isn't efficient, but he seemed to play some really good energized defense. A Beverly, Harden, Ariza, Smith, Howard lineup boasts 4 plus defenders and Harden who apparently is a plus defender according to RPM. The Rockets got a true gift.

Faried with 26 points and 25 rebounds tonight in a win.

If that lineup can't win the west idk what to say

It's somewhat alarming when you look at the rosters of non-contending teams, look at their 7-10 rotational players and say, "Damn, those guys would get burn here." At the very least, you have NBA athletes coming in and providing a physical presence.

Look at the Heat's roster for example. Cole sucks, but I can see him getting burn here. Granger's corpse would get burn. Birdman for sure. Ennis is young and athletic so he would get burn. Williams would get burn. I think even Haslem would get burn and he wasn't supposed to even play much this year with the addition of McRoberts. White side looks like he could be a defensive factor.

We've got a lot of work to do on this roster.

Totally agree. I don't know if I'm seeing things differently because I'm a Cavs fan or what, but I look at all these other teams and these guys come in and at least bang around a bit. Like you said- instill a physical presence. I do not see that with the Cavs, outside of Delly, Tristan and Marion, who have basically zero offense between the 3. Dion has been our saving grace lately.

You absolutely must have guys that can come in and knock some people down, get some boards and score a few. At least if you want to compete for something. Hopefully the front office is workin on it. I'm trying to be patient.

It's kinda of sad isn't it ? That said, am sure/hope Griffin et al, are working on it.

The grass is not always greener my friend. I'd rather have the roster the Cavs currently do than pine for big name players that are coming off the bench on sub .500 teams, with one of those teams having the 3rd worst record in the league and only 1 more win than the 76ers.

I get what you're saying. I was speaking more to teams like San Antonio, Dallas, golden state, etc. I know Rome wasn't built in a day, but we don't have much firepower at all coming off our bench. Just concerns me.
