2014-15 Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I get what you're saying. I was speaking more to teams like San Antonio, Dallas, golden state, etc. I know Rome wasn't built in a day, but we don't have much firepower at all coming off our bench. Just concerns me.

I agree with that train of thought.

Best case scenario imo is to be able to keep Dion as the 6th man and the fill the bench with players like Delly who will run the system and not complain. If AV comes back next season and can give 15-20 off the bench that would go along way in fixing the depth problem.

They could use a sparkplug scorer that doesn't need consistent minutes. (Jordan Crawford and Marahon Brooks come to mind)

As most of us can see finding a rim protecting big is the biggest need atm.

Kind of hoping they give Kirk some extended run with the 1st and 2nd units to see what he can do. If they do that and find that will work to some extent I'm fine with waiting until late February then kicking the tires on Blatche when his China contract is up and offering him that Dpe.

Brewer is 6-8 from three tonight and 11-17 since joint the Rockets. He supposedly csnt shoot and I'm sure his % will come down, but what a steal he was for them.

Contract year Ariza was real, btw. He's been fairly poor for Houston. Through the first 10 or so games, it looked like they made the right choice. Get Ariza at a discount of a price compared to Parsons and ultimately not lose much. But now 30 games in and Parsons has been, rather easily, the better player.

In the first five games, he shot 60% from three. Since then: 27%.

BUT, he has been really good defensively. His ON-OFF is +18. Houston's not even a good defensive team without him in the lineup if Howard is off the court as well. Howard off the court and Ariza in and they're still pretty good.

Parsons has started to turn things up offensively and is decent on defense. The Mavs are better offensively better with him on the court

The East doesn't seem so easy anymore with the top 4 teams showing they can do well enough against the West. Toronto destroys thenClips, Hawks beat a bunch of Western conference teams, Wizards defeat the Rockets at Houston, Chicago has had some wins...everyone's got bigs, athleticism...

A Finals matchup that wouldn't do well for the ratings but I'd like to see is Atlanta-Golden State or Atlanta-San Antonio. Three teams that just play beautiful basketball - something we can only dream of doing.

With their coach, Atlanta is like Spurs east in the way they move the ball. Atlanta is first in assist ratio and the Spurs 6th. The Cavs are 7th.

With that said, the Cavs have the 4th best offense while the Hawks and Spurs have the 11th and 12th best offenses. With no chemistry, underperforming James and Love, and at times ugly ball, we still have a better offense which shows how important defense is. ATL and the SAS have the 6th best and 7th best defenses respectively while we have a junior college D.

We could easily have the number one offense based on talent alone. We just to run actual sets instead of the infamous LeISO, but that is for another thread... :chuckle:

Jared Dudley and John Henson playing really well for the Bucks.

Henson has 12 blocks in the last 3 games and is an aggregate +34.

Dudley is +14.8 per 100 possessions on-off which is crazy good. He's scoring efficiently and defending well.

Does that mean LeIso is more effective than beautiful Spurs and Hawks ball? But yeah, too many other threads talking about this.:chuckle:

Detroit playing like the best team in the NBA since the waiving of JSmoove. :chuckle: And I mean literally considering ORtg and DRtg. over the last 11 quarters.

Detroit 4-0 since waiving Smith....

I've said this before and I'll say it again. The Warriors are terrifying.

Pau Gasol is a stud.

People totally wrote him off last year as being trash essentially and he had a really thin market in the off-season and settled on a very pedestrian contract (3 years/$22 million).

I was just perusing box scores and saw he had 29/16/5 blocks tonight. He's averaging 18/11/2.3 blocks a game this year and his career seems to have been totally rejuvenated.

He got an undeserved bum wrap the last few years in LA. It is nice to see him thriving again.

Probably has the best veteran contract in the league right now when measured against his production (outside of Duncan/Dirk).
