2014 Cleveland Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why make him a captain then? That's...kind of insulting. I'm not sticking up for him because like I said his attitude from all accounts was awful. I just feel like it was handled questionably.

It was probably an attempt to get him involved/to get his buy-in back. It's no surprise to anyone that reports from inside that locker-room that he was cut. You really think the Browns would insult him for fun? As Albert Breer put it:

So, I'm not rolling back to the "Browns are stupid" beat.

I'm glad Pettine is willing to make a move like this. It feels like we finally have a locker room that isn't festering with cancer. If Tate started becoming a malcontent, he needed to go. What he was producing on the field wasn't anywhere near worth the attitude off of it.

This. Remember last year when the front office wanted Chud to hold players more accountable, specifically cutting Greg Little mid season to make an example of, and Chud refused to do so. Well.. Pettine isn't fucking around.

I think it is the exact opposite of "browns are stupid" beat. We've changed the culture of that locker room. Pettine isn't going to let one player pout, leading to chemistry issues in the locker room.

No need for some sour puss, injury-prone running back demanding more carries like he is the second coming of Emmitt Smith when he hasn't produced all season.

Once Crowell learns how to hold on to the football, we will be in fine shape.

All 3 RB on the roster are now rookies, 2 being undrafted. Looks like Winston will get some touches too now:

I know Farmer doesn't believe in big name WRs, but it is startling how lowly drafted our skill position players were.

UDFA - Crow, Gabriel, Hawkins, Hoyer, Agnew
7th - Dray
5th - Barnidge
4th - Benjamin, Cameron
3rd - West
2nd - Gordon

Meanwhile, our original OLine featured 2 1sts and 2 2nds

I said it was questionable. As in, there are questions around it. That is certainly a possibility on why they made him a captain, but then going and not playing him is a slap in the face. I have no issue with them releasing him.

I'd love to see PFF redo that statistic without accounting for Ben Tate.

I feel like lost amid the long-term injury discussion is the importance of losing Armonty Bryant against Pittsburgh.

We have now lost the following to significant (or season-ending) injuries:

Armonty Bryant (season over)
Phil Taylor (season over)
John Hughes (technically eligible to return Wk. 17)
Karlos Dansby (out 4+ weeks)
Jordan Cameron

Thankfully, Winn/Rubin/Bryant should be active.

And even then, Billy Winn plays like every-other week.

DLine was disappointing before the injuries. They have been an abomination since the injuries. DLine looks to be priority #1 next offseason, IMO.
