2014 Cleveland Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm a huge Bernie fan and I only watched preseason games to listen to his analysis and commentary, but this was kind of dumb of him I think. It kind of makes him look bitter.

Bernie is so bitter toward the F.O. and his objectivity is... nonexistent.

He was removed as a consultant and later replaced as the color coordinator on WKYC.

I personally hated the Manziel draft pick and have lobbied against it all season. Other than that? Farmer and co. have made tremendous strides in putting talent on the field.

He was able to pluck undrafted free agents out of thin air and plug them into starting roles (Crowell, K'Waun, Gabriel), drafted a Pro Bowl guard in Bitonio, and a viable starter in Kirksey.

Not to mention, he won free agency with the additions of Dansby and Whitner.

And for the record, I really like Pettine. He holds guys accountable and makes guys earn their stripes. He's a no nonsense guy and he's very real. Players respond to that.

Inconsistent quarterbacking has led us to this point. With all due respect... Fuck off, Bernie.

Like I said before, I get the feeling Haslam was behind the Johnny pick. He saw him falling and though, "I can get the most hyped Heisman winner ever. Someone who will draw in fans and sell tickets. Let's go."

Problem is that he isn't very good. When people talk about not everyone in the FO being sold on Manziel, I think they're referring to the front office and coaching staff in general. I'd put money on this coming from Haslam.

Of course Haslam was a key factor in the drafting of Manziel, but I think when Bernie blasted the FO as a whole he was right- several hands in the jar on it, a few too many. The owner, I would assume, is insinuated in being the one who doen't need to be involved in personnel decisions. I do appreciate your attempt, however, to deflect blame from the local homeess population.

I actually wasn't talking about Bernie's comments. I just can't remember where I heard it, but someone was talking about how not all of the staff was behind Manziel. This was a few days ago before Bernie's interview.

It bothers me when coaches don't look anything like the players at the positions that they coach, and even moreso if they have zero experience playing it at a high level.

Loggains has a very punchable face and shreddable playing resume.

Plus his name is Dowell.

I am a little bothered by the grossly out of shape guys who are coaches of pro athletes, but I don't see how they need to have played at a high level. I would even venture to say that many of the best make horrible coaches because to get to the level they did certain things had to come easy- and usually those are the things a coach needs to be able to teach. To borrow from another sport, Charlie Manuel never made it out if the minors but numerous players learned from him about hitting. Dave Duncan was a catcher. Leo Mazzone never made it out of the minors either. Bill Belicheck? Guy he learned from and surpassed (see he made me forget him)? I don't think having a past with a high level at a position is necessary. In the case of Dowell Loggains, having a dumb name is far more indicative of his abilities.

Funny how Triv was the biggest shill for the Browns organization when WTAM was the team's flagship station and especially during the Carmen Policy/Butch Davis days. Now that the station no longer broadcasts the games, he is an outspoken critic and gets off on bashing the Browns. He is easily the most obnoxious and ignorant blowhard in the Cleveland media and that's a closely contested fight with a myriad of worthy candidates. Anyways, Bernie isn't way off in being disturbed by how the Browns front office has operated in recent years, and I find it incredibly frightening that our criminal owner is ultimately pulling the trigger on drafting for the most important position. But, he's pretty vague in his takedown of the organization and just throws around cliche terms like "culture."

I don't blame Bernie for going off the organization, ever since they came back in 1999 Bernie has been ridiculed. When they first came back, he was supposed to be the assistant general manager. He suggested to Al Lerner and Carmen Policy that they hire Belichick has head coach, they laughed at him and he never was in the front office. He's never been given a fair shot in a meaningful position in the front office or coaching position. He was offered the president job in 2006 but was going through a messy divorce that he turned it down

He has a great football mind but due to his concussion problems and his slurring speech, the Browns are avoiding him

Much like your post is avoiding the elephant in the room: The sauce.

I've seen him double fisting at a restaurant.

Bernie is right.

After Lerner hired Mangini before hiring a GM I quit on the Browns. Sure they were my team but I was no longer planning my Sunday's around the game. I was happy. Four seasons of not caring. Then Truck Stop Jimmy bought the team. I got excited, as I blamed Randy for the failures. I started watching again last year. This year I made the mistake of having hope. I was cautious but excited to see Johnny. Now I realize I have been fooled again.

TSJ is a redneck huckster who has a boner for athletes and fell in love with Johnny. He did Chud wrong and also couldn't spend 6 months living in Cleveland. He knows nothing about running a team and should have stuck to running gas stations and defrauding customers. The JFF loverboy pick will assure we won't compete until 2017. Ray Farmer smugly thinks he is the smartest guy in the room. We also have a coach who twice attempted a 60 yard FG with a kicker who struggles outside of 40.

This team is a disaster. They won 7 games with the easiest schedule in the NFL. Next year we regress back to 4 wins. Save your money. Until this team proves they can make good decisions and the playoffs, they do not deserve our time or our money. The Dolans run a better franchise.

Funny how things changed after 1 miserable start by a rookie QB who happens to be 22 years old. One week ago, everyone would have said they had faith in Pettine, Farmer, and Haslam getting the right people in the organization. Nope, now all of the sudden the culture sucks, the front office sucks, owner is a criminal, defense is terrible, offense is terrible, trainers are terrible, waterboys terrible.
