2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Re: 2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion (Marion watch)

How does he know neither trade will happen? If the cavs made an offer for either player couldn't they up their offer? I hate this kind of reporting.

It probably means the Cavs got declined when they offered a trade for Mozgov.

Who would you use to match salary? Virtually not doable.

Varejao and Haywood works in the trade machine, i saw it in a tweet a little bit ago... though trading Verajao is a big no no cuz then Roy is our only center...

There's no way in hell Indy trades Hibbert to the Cavs when they will be battling watch other in the playoffs.

unless they plan on tanking this year like they should, while forcing us into tax hell with Hibbert's deal

Indy will have a tough time getting to the playoffs. They dont have any guards that can break down the defense. That was the main problem with Hill last year. LS and PG were the ones who made the game easier for others. West is not getting any younger, and Hibbert is a mess upstairs. That is a 36-38 win if EVERYTHING goes right. I see them wining 32-35 games. If they are smart they will trade West for a protected first round pick, and pull Philly and try to end up with a top 5 pick.

There's no way in hell the Cavs trade for Hibbert, period. No way to reasonably make the salaries work without a. Trading Andy (no way) and b. Killing all future flexibility.

These foreign sites are not reliable on finer details of the CBA or negotiations generally. I have not been able to find the original interview, presumably published in Russian, but I wouldn't get too worked up about this.

Kyle O'Quinn would be another option. Can play PF and Center.
Averaged 5.3 RPG and 1.3 BPG in only 17.2 minutes last season.
The question is: Whou would we trade for him?

I'd consider him. Undersized, which makes me feel he won't be considered. Hard to say what Orlando is doing and whether they value him, but he has been pretty decent for them. He's a minimum salary guy, so technically I don't think the Cavs would even have to send out any salary in the trade. They could just send out a second round pick (for instance), and keep the Utah guys for another deal. I think the same applies for the New Orleans guys Withey and Ajinca. Someone correct me if I am wrong on this.

Let's hope not.

I think Indy is a ~30 win team. Who knows what they think though.

Ladies and gentlemen, the zenith of nonsensical journalism. this is how you know it's a slow newsweek :chuckles: I would've probably expected this from other sites but NBA.com? c'mon son.

It's because he was either going to retire or play on. However nba.com is getting pretty bad. :chuckles:

Funny to think had they kept Turner, he would've contributed to this team a lot, probably helping them make the playoffs. That roster, as it stands, is AWFUL.

PG: Hill
SG: Stuckey
SF: Miles
PF: West
C: Hibbert

That's about a 30 win team. They have to pray Hibbert returns to all-star form to get into the playoffs.

I think it's just as unlikely, maybe even more so, that they trade Haywood before the $10.5MM non-guarantee kicks in on his contract...

I love the ideas some of you have but we need to be realistic. We have 3 max players on the team, with Dion due a raise in 2 years, I do not see us spending more then 7-8 million on a starting center. I would rather have a bench then blow it all on a Center.

How is saying that Ray Allen isn't going to retire nonsensical...?

Maybe nonsensical was the wrong word, I just thought the wording was pretty funny.
