Rondo slowly turning into his old Boston Celtic days....
and yet neither boston nor his more recent dallas team regret getting rid of him...

And they finished 7th in the Eastern Conference last year. They currently sit 7th in the Eastern Conference this year. That sounds about right for a team with role players and a 6MOY candidate.
seems a bit silly to compare standings while ignoring win%. team that was 7th in the EC last year would be closer to 11th now and this team would be closer to 4th last year.

edit: not saying the celtics are bad or anything. i've liked amir and crowder for a long time (and actually said dallas was making a mistake when they traded him). it's just not the same as last yr.

though i do also want to point out evan turner is still totally worthless and decidedly in the "bad" category.

Western Conference living off that SEC type of hype.

These Celtics fans are going wild up 3 against the Warriors in the 4th - must be so tough to play in arenas like that sometimes.

I'm surprised Draymond Green doesn't have a caved in chest with how often he pounds it.

Funny how GS can't do much with Klay out

The East is currently outplaying the West, but I don't think it will last.

I looked at the all-star ballots and the talent differential is still massive. Go look at the list of guards in the East and then look at them in the West. Best guard in the East, currently, is Jimmy Butler. He wouldn't start in the West. Then see if you can figure out the second best guard in the East (maybe Lowry, maybe Wall....) and that player wouldn't even make the Western conference team.

Yeah, I was just talking about this with a friend of mine who is a Celtics fan.

It started by him saying that the Celtics could beat anyone in the East other than the Cavs.

At first I was thinking "lol, okay." But then I thought about it some more...and really, after LeBron & George, the talent level drops significantly. When Kyrie comes back, he's the third best player in the conference.

Looking at the standings and the potential playoff teams, I'm not sure I can disagree with my friend. Chicago, Atlanta, Miami have all been very unimpressive. Charlotte is not meant to be taken seriously. Raptors are frauds until they prove otherwise in the playoffs. That leaves Indiana. While they haven't looked all that impressive themselves, Paul George is playing at a superstar level right now. That alone has them as the 2nd best team in the East for me. Having a player like that will be huge in the playoffs and these other teams just don't have it. But other than Cleveland and Indiana, I would honestly not be surprised to see the Celtics beat any of these other teams. Which is kinda crazy.

The problem with Boston is they have no scoring personnel, which will change when they capitalize on the nets pick

picks. the next 3 in a row, in fact. all of which are unprotected.

oh, and they might manage to snag 2 more mid 1sts from dallas and minnesota for the 2016 draft too.

it is beyond ridiculous how well-positioned they are for the future. award exec of the decade to ainge already.
