2015 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not enough wide receivers.

fanspeak is hilarious. I've been playing on it today. I've had a couple opportunities to pass on Winston and Mariota.

12: R1P12 WR KEVIN WHITE WVU
19: R1P19 WR DEVANTE PARKER LOUISVILLE
43: R2P11 OT ANDRUS PEAT STANFORD
77: R3P13 DE TREY FLOWERS ARKANSAS
108: R4P12 CB IFO EKPRE-OLOMU OREGON
112: R4P16 WR JUSTIN HARDY ECU
139: R5P11 DT XAVIER WILLIAMS NORTHERN IOWA
173: R6P13 TE E.J. BIBBS IOWA STATE
186: R6P26 ILB TREY DEPRIEST ALABAMA
204: R7P12 QB SHANE CARDEN ECU

:piss:
Some of those draft picks aren't too bad, but I don't know if I could see us drafting two receivers in the first round. Also, I I see Ifo Ekpre-Olomu playing more at the safety position in the NFL and I think I would put one more offensive line selection somewhere in there. I'm sure the mock drafts will get better as we get closer to the draft.

first-pick.com. is the site I've used when I'm bored to do mock drafts. Very easy to trade down which doesn't make it as fun.

But once free agency shakes out, it will be a bit easier to see what needs have to be addressed in the draft. Maybe we sign a receiver or a dline (dan williams from Az would be nice) or possibly signing a pass rusher and then trying to find a guy in the mid-late rounds to develop.

Mock on yahoo that just came out....

12. Cleveland Browns — Oregon DE Arik Armstead

Surprised? Frankly, we are prepared for the Browns to forgo more obvious needs — say, a wide receiver — and take a player such as the talented, enigmatic Armstead, who doesn’t turn 21 until midseason but could be a monster in time. Browns general manager Ray Farmer doesn’t appear to value the receiver position the way Browns fans do.

^---We skipped on taking Devante Parker, btw.....

19. Cleveland Browns (from Buffalo) — UCLA QB Brett Hundley

From chatter around Indy, it seems that our 2014 midseason predictions will come true: Some team will fall in love with Hundley’s impressive tangibles and intangibles and want to work with him and clean up his faulty mechanics and pocket sense. Figure the Browns and Eagles, who own the next choice, to be the two teams most likely to draft Hundley if he goes this high

43. Cleveland Browns — USC WR Nelson Agholor

Shifty, smart slot receiver with return potential, Agholor might not be the dynamic game-changer fans want, but he’ll be productive.

:cha (40):

Don't get the hype with DeVante Parker at all.

Don't get the hype with DeVante Parker at all.

We don't need a deep WR. We need a WR that can just catch the damn ball. Parker is that guy. Doesn't drop a lot, tall and good wingspan. I haven't looked into how he has been since his foot but honestly don't need him to be Hawkins agile, just need a reliable WR we can throw to on 3rd & 6.

If Parker is there and we skip on him, I wouldn't be to happy.

Edit: And I know you like DGB if he falls enough, but as I have said before, just scares me with his off the field shit.

A lot of wide receivers can catch the ball and be reliable.

Those are good traits to have, but for a top 12 pick he better have the ceiling to justify such a selection.

I don't think he has that, or is even close.

I'm hopeful the Browns won't pigeon-hole themselves into taking a wide receiver simply because of a lack of bodies.

Bottom line, we need a WR...either be through FA or draft, we need a reliable, WR. We need to surround our shithole QB with some talent. Otherwise teams will just continue to stack the box.

If we get our Cobb or someone, then maybe we won't have to take him, but we need an outside "hands-y" threat, and he can be the guy.

I don't think we will find that later in the draft, but who the hell knows.

Whether they sign anyone or not, they would be fools to draft someone based on need. You can't justify taking a guy in the first round by saying, "well we needed a guy and he looks reliable enough."

The wide receivers, even without Gordon, were the least of this team's concerns last season.

I guess it just comes down to how we each value the players..

I don't see taking Parker at the 12 as drafting him based off of need. He is a skilled, tall, great handed WR. Which is why him going at 11 to Minn. could be a match (and to reunite him with Teddy).

How far will Strong fall? Reach on Maxx in the 2nd? Or go for QB?

We have the ammunition and I am excited to see how we use it. We just can not screw this draft up.

The wide receivers, even without Gordon, were the least of this team's concerns last season.

Very few journalists agree with this statement. I know the PFF stats were positive for the receivers, but there was too much overlap in what they could do. We need options that aren't small, quick receivers who could only operate in space and blocking tight ends. Gordon, Cameron and Austin are the only guys who don't meet these descriptions and they all have HUGE question marks for next year. I can live with the position not getting addressed until the 2nd or 3rd round, but only if they plan to invest heavily in free agency or have trades lined up.
