2015 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Stefon Diggs in the 5th would be highway robbery, even if he is another undersized receiver. That guy just gets yards between the 20s. This draft has great WR depth, I hope we come out of it with at least 2.

FYI, I'm planning to re-up the mock draft game thread again this year. I'll get things up and running around the 1st of March. @AZ_ @Phills14 @SuperSurge @MoFlo

In the meantime, I messed with fanspeak's unrealistic mock draft simulator this morning and aside from missing out on Petty in the 4th round, it was fun. Randy Gregory dropped like a rock.... I also failed to get LB help. First crack at it, though.

77) Clive Walford, TE, Miami

b00b is wet right now.

Yeah, we need to come out with 2 WR. One in the 1st/2nd and one mid rounder.

Grossi released his first mock of the year..

12) DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
19) Malcom Brown, DT, Texas

b00bie Post-Combine mock (2/24):

1 - 12 - Malcom Brown - DL - Texas - Technically sound in all facets of the game, a guy you can move all around the line to cause problems for an offensive line. Probably as close to can't miss as you're going to get at this level.

1 - 19 - Maxx Williams - TE - Minnesota - Did he blow away the combine? No, but he's not going to be there in the second round either. I'd like to move down a bit and grab him, but I'm comfortable taking him in this range. Just 20 years old and can make a long-term impact as a weapon in the passing game. More valuable than the WRs I think will be available here (including Strong).

2 - Bryce Petty - QB - Baylor - Been on this guy for a while, and I think he's got the right approach to the game. No, his college system is not a concern for me. He understands how to beat defenses, what he needs refinement in is consistent mechanics. I think he could help a team this season, most others don't.

3 - Trey Flowers - DL - Arkansas - Physical skills off the charts, impressive explosion. Plays too high, plays stiff at times. First round talent, IMO.

4 - Ben Heeney - LB - Kansas - Been my guy for a while, one of the most underrated prospects in the draft. Went to Indy and posted the best 3-cone (by a full tenth), best 20-shuttle and 60-shuttle (almost two full tenths). This year's Borland, but way more athletic. If I have to take him in round three, I do it. Will start for someone.

4 (from BUF) - Justin Hardy - WR - ECU - I know, unthinkable to not draft a WR to this point. Hardy is a seasoned starter at ECU and can help out a team this season. I want the Browns to focus on bringing in a veteran WR to help out in the short-term, Hardy will be a fixture in the long-term.

5 - Mitch Morse - OT/OG - Mizzou - Versatile guy who can play inside or at RT. Kind of a workout warrior with some meh tape, but his athleticism gives him a good chance to help. By all accounts a very smart player who knows how to get leverage.

6 - Darren Waller - WR/TE - Georgia Tech - On a team that lacks weapons, finding a guy like this who can be a matchup nightmare would be a huge help. Almost certainly takes a red-shirt year at the NFL level because he's so raw, but at 6-6, 230+ he could be a fixture in the slot as a matchup problem or on the outside in the red-zone. Need to get creative here.

7 - Davis Tull - OLB - UT Chattanooga - Developmental pass-rushing prospect who may have elevated his prospect status last week. Just throwing his name out there as someone to keep an eye on. Crazy motor, just relentless.

I'd be jazzed to get Hardy in the 4th, is that where he's currently being mocked?

Any chance we do a mock draft for the entire league like last year again?

There's a lot of young Wes Welker in Hardy... again, I'm just left wondering how a 5'10 guy under 200 pounds with okay speed fits with what the Browns already have... Waller is interesting though.

I'm liking Brown more and more if the top WRs and Shelton are gone.

Isnt Hardy 6' and 3/4?. I'm 99% sure he's not 5'10

5'10, 192 at the combine.

Hence the drop to the fourth.

Either way, that doesn't really bother me given what the Browns have already. They need guys who can play.

I'd feel better about drafting another member of the Lollipop Guild if they throw a ton of cash at Julius Thomas, or trade a 7th rounder for Stevie Johnson.

As I said in the mock, they need options NOW.

I'd prefer to focus on wide receivers in free agency.

Obviously they have ties to Cobb and Johnson, would like to go hard after both.

No qualms from me, San Francisco has a roster of receivers who are bigger and win 50/50 balls but don't stretch the field. A clean swap of someone like Travis Benjamin for Stevie Johnson would solve a lot of problems for both rosters. Call me a union buster, but I'm a little tired of the Guild.
