2015 Cleveland Browns Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I say move Joe Thomas for the DEN 1st rounder, but I also want that backup linebacker that played for Ware vs. CLE in the deal.

It seems like Joe Haden is not on the block. If I'm right, out of curiosity, why? My theory is if we are willing to trade are pro-bowl left tackle -- something I'm not opposed to -- why not offer up our former pro-bowl corner that has taken a step back? This whole process just seems inconsistent. Either have a fire-sale or don't. But don't half-ass it, that's how you get stuck where we are in the first place.
Because you are likely getting pennies on the dollar for Haden at this point. He has had 2 concussions in 4 weeks- red flag
He has played like one of the worst corners in the NFL this year- red flag
His contract is massive. If he was on a team friendly deal I could see him on the move, but who wants to give up significant assets to take on a top 3 salary CB who has played like the third best corner on his own team? We would have to dial back our asking price on him to the point it is most likely best keeping him and hoping this season is just an anomaly. I think Haden has always been pretty overrated by Browns fans, but he is no where near as bad as he has been playing, and selling low on a 26 year old corner isn't a great idea.

Would you trade Joe Thomas for Browns' last 8 Round 1 picks as a lot (Erving, Shelton, Manziel, Gilbert, Mingo, Weeden, Richardson, Taylor)?

There are no words.

Hate the fact they could never build an even marginally talented offense behind Thomas, but he's also 30 and showing some signs of regression.

Getting that value for him wouldn't be the worst move.

Doing something with that value has generally been the issue.

If they can snag a 1st and 2nd for JT I wouldn't be terribly upset, still would suck to lose him but if you're going to blow this up, then blow it up with style.

That's definitely fair... I guess my issue is that cornerback is one of the most replaceable position in the NFL, unless your team has a shutdown corner (no, Haden is not one. I'm talking about guys like Peterson, Revis, Sherman, etc.), and in that case the player should be untradeable.

Ultimately, the Haden-Gipson duo is great. If Gipson will be here long-term, I keep Haden. The issue is the brilliant Browns front office short-changed Gipson this summer, and he may leave. Without an elite coverage safety, I think Joe Haden's skill set is limited. He is small and struggles against stronger receivers. Having someone like Gipson helps out because it lets Haden use his speed in the zone, in which case he is fantastic.

Again, my issue isn't necessarily that we aren't trying to move Haden, but that we are half-assing the firesale. If we aren't going to take this seriously, than god do not trade Joe Thomas. If we are truly going to tank, then offer everyone, and go total rebuild in the draft.

With that being said I really don't want the Browns to blow it up, they have some solid talent to build upon.

Which is exactly why I don't even entertain the thought. We have so few hits in the draft, I'm not getting rid of Thomas for late first and late second rounder. Wouldn't even do it for two firsts.

I know we will probably have a new regime, but fuck it if we keep drafting like we do I wouldn't do it for 7 first rounders. Am I overexagerrating? I don't even know anymore.

Shelton, Erving, Manziel, Gilbert, Mingo, Trent, Weeden. Our last 7 first rounders. Many of them top 20 (which is not where the Broncos picks will be). Anyone want to trade that crap heap for Thomas? I know everyone assumes at some point we have to have competence and hit, but I just don't know anymore man. Leave me Joe Thomas. It is one of the few joys I have left watching this team.

The only answer seems to be trading all of their draft picks.

A regressed Joe Thomas is still better than anything these goofballs will get with a late 1st and he's also head and shoulders above the shitshow we had before we drafted him.

Joe has been such a luxury that I think people have forgotten the turnstile of death we had on the left side before him.

I'd let Joe play until he wants to hang it up. I just hope we find a QB worth protecting before then.

You can be a frustrating one my friend. Not saying that either. But I'm not willing to trade the best lineman in the NFL for draft picks that we have proven to be pretty bad at making. If Joe can give us 3 more years of elite line play he is worth more than any non-top 5 pick to me.

draft hits by farmer:
Bitonio, Kirksey, Desir, duke, cooper, campbell (in limited action)

udfa hits:
crowell, gabriel, kwaun williams

These are just off the top of my head, that's solid IMO

Do those 1st round picks look bad, aorn sure. But to say Farmer hasn't added talent to this team is not a fair statement.

If you cant even have faith that the FO will use the picks well, there are way bigger problems.
