The Ohio State University Department of Public Safety has been informed of an anonymous threat of violence today on an Ohio State campus. The Ohio State University Police Division is taking the threat seriously and continuing to aggressively investigate with the
assistance of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
Based on the assessment and advice of law enforcement authorities, the university remains open and classes proceed as usual. Appropriate precautionary measures are being taken, including an increased police presence on campus. We recognize the concern that our students and community have at this time, and are asking our faculty to show flexibility for student concerns given this unique circumstance.
All members of the university community are reminded to report any related suspicious activity to police by calling 614-292-2121, or by dialing 9-1-1 in emergencies.
The university received the following report of the threat last evening from individuals who saw it posted on an online gaming site: “If you live in the Ohio State University , I warn you . Tomorrow at 15 hours, I will kill students and teachers with guns . I have guns and explosives in my room , which I will use ."
The university strongly urges caution on drawing any specific conclusions from the above threat. The public also is reminded that the official source for information about campus safety and security is The Ohio State University. Updates will be posted at
