I agree with this. I have a healthy disrespect for Michigan when it's the week of the game. Until then, I am a little torn on what to root for.

The best is clearly when both teams are awesome and we get to choke them out during the big game. On the other hand, I am not there cheering for them, I just don't feel strongly about it - they are another B1G team.

As far as them being anything at all like the Browns, that's crazy. Michigan is on the road to recovery, probably better recruiting, and a lot more winning with Harbaugh. MSU/UM/OSU will headline and now the middle of the pack is looking good too.

I just don't see why the punter felt he had to punt it. Just fall down on it and don't compound the mistake...

I usually have this take about them, but then they win a game or two and their fan base instantly becomes wholly insufferable and I remember why I hate them so much. So that's where we stand right now since they are having a decent season.

Fuck them.

I just have this vision of the bowls and UM gets paired up with, say, the perfect Hype machine team LSU. And the UM simply beats them. And the SEC guys who never shut the fuck up finally shut the fuck up. I would root for UM in that case.

The bottom line is that if you really love sports and competition and all that is good about the rivalry, this series looks like it is going to be EPIC for years to come. I like those days where I am just pacing around all day waiting for the big game. It's shaping up to be that way for us this year for like 5 games in a row.

Honestly, I'd probably root for them vs an SEC opponent. I loathe the SEC just that much. Only time I wouldn't is if it were an NC, because when Michigan wins their next NC that fan base will be insanely insufferable. Like, people think OSU fans are bad after the title we just won. Wait till you see that shit.

Thankfully, that isn't happening any time soon. /troll

Yeah, basically what @Chris is saying.

Michigan fans sure do cherish their September wins..

I still usually want them to win any game that's not against OSU for SOS purposes (wanted Sparty to win though so we'd face off each being undefeated) but there is no way in hell I'd ever root for them in a NC. Any other bowl game, sure, but not a playoff one.

And every once in awhile, they need that reality check. Like losing to Utah in Harbaugh's first game. Like when they got cock slapped by Alabama a few years ago. Those things needed to happen so their delusional fanbase can stay somewhat grounded.

Or the time Mike Hart went 0-4 versus Ohio State and 0-1 vs Appalachian State.

Wow. You guys are much nicer than I am... I'm one of those "I root for Ohio State and whoever is playing Michigan" people. Doesn't matter if it's an important bowl game or against UNLV in September... watching Michigan lose, especially when they have high expectations to be good, brings me much joy.

..They haven't won in a decade. it's like booing Jew's in 1947.
