2015 Game #9 -|- #3 Ohio State vs. Minnesota -|- November 7th, 2015 @ 8:00 PM

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I hope someone comes out with the inside scoop on what happened this off-season, because I can't for the life of me understand how Urban watched them in practice and named Cardale the starter. THere's no way the gap in the play between the two QBs this season wasn't at least somewhat apparent early on.
My theory is that he wanted JT, but knew he wouldn't be healthy, so Cardale was the starter. If Cardale killed it, then Cardale would stay. He kept JT warm until he was 100% ready to go.

I remember them as zone reads where either Zeke ran it up the middle or Cardale took it outside.

Don't even make it a read. Run a QB power like Tebow used to. With their OLine and Cardale being 250, how does it not get 4-5 yards a pop?

Nah man, they were delayed QB power runs...the one where he takes a big step back like he's dropping back to throw, then runs off tackle...he would always try to break them outside and would run right into a DB....I remember complaining about this in a previous gamethread.

I feel bad for the guy. He should have left. At this rate I'm not sure he gets picked before the 6th or 7th round. Probably in the back of his mind as well.

Sounds like a draw which isn't really a power run nor is the type of run I'd like to see them try.

I would still draft Cardale. Right now he's a 3rd or 4th rounder.

I still don't get why we slow the tempo down with Cardale in

Because he's not completing passes. So you run the risk of going uptempo with a guy who isn't completing passes, going 3 and out, and putting your defense back on the field having given them no rest.

Too quick to be a draw, and isn't blocked like a pass play, which is why I don't know what the hell to call it...still doesn't change the fact that, in a summation of his season so far, he made the wrong decision on those runs as well...he just isn't there mentally or physically this year...which is weird

That would make sense if they went tempo after early down run plays...but even after runs there is no tempo. Slowest I've ever seen the offense run in the Urban era.

If that stays as targeting, I officially don't understand the rule anymore.

We got good Von Bell tonight.

That was the definition of the hit the targeting rule is trying to create...head was up, led with the facemask...the worst rule in sports right now.

It seems like the receivers drop more catchable passes from cardale than JT. I don't know if it's timing or the fact that he throws the ball harder than JT and JT has better touch.

Also Cardale despite his size is not looking to use his legs as much as people thought he would. He tries to stay in the pocket and go through his reads.

They did overturn it....error on the side of caution then overturn it on replay. I don't have qualms with that.
