2015 NBA Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is the perfect time to draft some projects. Let them hang around our battle tested core. We need these picks to improve. My preference would be:

1. A big who has tools to become a rim protector
2. A SF/PF hybrid ala Draymond Green
3. A playmaker at the PG spot.

I'm not disagreeing, just find it kinda funny that "SF/PF hybrid" players were called tweeners and teams were advised to avoid them like the plague for decades. Now Green has success and suddenly everyone has to get one of them. I think history is probably right on this one. Green is unique in many ways and someone with a similar size and skillset seems more likely to head down the path beaten by the likes of Thomas Robinson, Derrick Williams and many more like them.

Just caught up with all the videos on Christian Wood. Why is he projected to go around our pick? Granted he's a long term project and is probably a horrible nba player right now, but guys wth his size, athleticism and skills don't come around that often.

Fat and we recently picked a fat player from same school who is going to be out of league soon.

Even though we may have greater needs on the wing I would still love it if we took this guy. I really think in the right situation he ends up being the steal of the draft.
Reminds me most of Keon Clark.

Don't think he's overrated at all. Easily the best backcourt prospect.

BTW:

Russell could have been a very good player for OSU. He is overrated for the NBA however, contrary to what he actually believes about himself.

I am not a OSU fan, so no homer here, but you are insane.

Russell might be the best player in the draft. He will be the next stud wing in the nba, I like his skill set better than Wiggins personally and I loved Wiggins as a prospect.

Deep draft this year at the top of the draft, have some really skilled big men to go with Russell.

Starting to think RJ Hunter or Justin Anderson will be the pick if they are there and we don't trade the pick. Listening to Griff and what he wants to add to the existing Big 3 core from earlier in the season (3 point shooters, high basketball IQ, defensive abilities, hard workers) points to them. Really want a developmental big like Wood or Upshaw, but that goes against what Griff has been speaking about how he wants to build the team.

Going to be so weird to watch the lottery this year.

I still remember where I was last year when we jumped all the way up.

That was the first domino in a summer that almost all of us would have never dared to dream would happen.

We're casual about it now like it's no big deal, but just sit back and remember how things felt on the final game of the season last year. No one should undervalue or under appreciate just how incredible of a summer we had last year.

Just wait. Russell will not warrant his high draft pick he is going to get. Wiggins by far will have a better NBA career. It won't be close.

Said it here first.

And I'll say the exact opposite. I've never been enamored with Wiggins but Russell is going to have a fine career ahead of him.

Ibaka, Batum, George Hill, DeAndre Jordan, Taj Gibson, Jimmy Butler, Norris Cole, Draymond Green, Khris Middleton.

It's not a long list but those are some of the guys taken at 24 or later that have been successful and were making an rotational impact with their team by year two.

If Griffin can pull something of value with pick 24, it would be huge. It's honestly the lowest we're likely to be picking in 3-4 years.

If adding the pick to Haywoods contract increases the type of under 30 player we can get back in exchange, I would ok with dealing it. I'd also be ok with dealing it for a 2016 first rounder from a middle of the road team(seeing if we could convert pick 24 in 2015 to a pick in the 14-22 range in 2016)

I would not be happy at all if they sold the pick, as it doesn't create a value asset in any way.

With the players we have to resign this year, and with the cap not going up for a year, I think we end up trading it for a 2016 pick or later. If we bring back the core 8, there is no reason to waste money on a 1st round pick this year. Lets push it off until we need to add some young talent.

The draft lottery is tomorrow and we're not in it. Doesn't feel right... :chuckle:

I don't think that's a very good strategy at all. You draft the developmental player now so that in a year or two they are ready to contribute when you need them, assuming of course that the GM sees a player he likes.
