2016 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Brugler new 7 round mock draft:

CLE.png

Carson Wentz , QB, North Dakota State: There is a high probability that Wentz is drafted with this pick, the main question is to who? Cleveland could pull the trigger, but there might be an even better chance of the Eagles or another team trading up for his rights.

32. Cleveland Browns
Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor: Cleveland has its quarterback and now they need to get him playmakers like Coleman.

65. Cleveland Browns
Shilique Calhoun, DE/OLB, Michigan State: Lack of pass rush has consistently been an issue for the Browns, something Calhoun will help fix.

99. Cleveland Browns –Kevin Byard, S, Middle Tennessee
138. Cleveland Browns –Kyle Murphy, OT, Stanford
141. Cleveland Browns – Aaron Wallace, DE/OLB, UCLA
172. Cleveland Browns – Will Parks, S, Arizona
A notable combine snub, Parks has a quick trigger and the athleticism to provide versatility in nickel.
173. Cleveland Browns –Connor Wujciak, DL, Boston College
176. Cleveland Browns –Robby Anderson, WR/CB, Temple
223. Cleveland Browns –Glenn Gronkowski, FB, Kansas State

Dude there is a playoff game going on and you are watching a fake draft that you could DVR live:doh::conf (11):

Well, I missed a hell of a lot while roaming through Europe last week. I haven't had a chance to post my thoughts, so I'll just touch on that briefly and lay out the two scenarios which I think could be very favorable to the Browns future:

1. The Browns trade back again

While the Top 8 could be just on the cusp of getting an elite prospect who can make an immediate impact, the possibility of moving back another 5-7 spots has to be intriguing given the need to build en mass through the draft.

The Titans reportedly could be looking to move up, as could Miami, as could a few others.

The Browns would do well to acquire another second round pick and another pick in the 2nd or 3rd round this year or next.

2. The Browns build the front seven

Staying at 8 leaves the Browns with the very real possibility of landing a quality defensive player in the front seven. Myles Jack, DeForest Buckner both come to mind as the best fit. Joey Bosa could fit in that mix as well but I don't see him lasting.

These two players represent the highest ceiling defensive players left on the board, along with Darron Lee.

This is really the only two scenarios which will make me happy on Thursday. Taking a right tackle or reaching for a WR/QB will just not be a great use of the deal they made.

They can't miss at 8, if they stay there.

Abandoning your post at a moment of great need... You really are a liberal. :chuckle:

At least tell me you have been scouting that German wideout.

*Browns trade #8 and #100 to the Titans for #15, #45 and the Rams 2nd round selection in 2017.

1 - 15 - LaQuon Treadwell - WR - OleMiss - Ready to step in and contribute immediately to the WR core, gives RGIII an impact target.

2 - 32 - Noah Spence - OLB - EKU - Legitimate pass rusher with a disappointing history of drugs and commentary.

2 - 45 - Michael Thomas - WR - Ohio State - Treadwell and Thomas combine to form one of the best 1-2 punches in the league in about three years.

3 - 65 - Kentrell Brothers - ILB - Mizzou - Finds the football like few others can, all over the field.

3 - 77 - Dean Lowry - DL - Northwestern - Everytime I saw him he was hustling, just grinding offensive lineman down with his size and strength. He's going to be a productive starter for a long time for someone.

4 - 99 - Kevin Byard - S - MTSU - Productive, long term-term starter for an MTSU team that sorely lacked defensive playmakers.

4 - 138 - Jeff Driskel - QB - La Tech - Shows impressive quickness and has what could be the best natural arm talent in the draft. His time at Florida was disastrous, he was never properly developed and he finally began to show his talent at La Tech. Might not be around here.

5 - 141 - Adam Gotsis - DL - Georgia Tech - Underrated player who could go higher than this, but his injury history might have him slip down to this level where he becomes a great value pick. Another hustle guy who is pretty technically sound and was a leader of an underrated GT defense.

5 - 172 - Kalan Reed - CB - Southern Miss - Playmaker at CB for a Southern Miss team that's going to have a few players drafted. Not quite 6' but he gets the job done and can really close.

5 - 173 - Darius Jackson - RB - EMU - Wowed at his Pro Day, for a guy his size he's really quick and shows solid lateral agility in the hole.

6 - 176 - Deon Bush - S - Miami - Would be interested to see if he can be more consistent with the flashes he showed at UM. Solid safety prospect with more talent than his draft grade will show.

7 - 223 - Jake McGee - TE - Florida - Pretty good blocker, but will be a 25 year old rookie who has limited upside. Hope is he can be a TE 2 to Barnidge, who needs to focus less on taxidermy and more on blocking in 2016.

Browns stay at 8:

1 - 8 - DeForest Buckner - DL - Oregon - Long and athletic, his talent can't be taught. His technique and consistency can improve. Instant impact.

2 - 32 - Michael Thomas - WR - Ohio State - All-around wide receiver capable of being a #1 in time.

3 - 65 - Kentrell Brothers - ILB - Mizzou - Finds the football like few others can, all over the field.

3 - 77 - Daniel Braverman - WR - WMU - Will absolutely play at this level due to his elite quicks in the slot. Great hands and a knack for making touch catches at big moments.

4 - 99 - Kevin Byard - S - MTSU - Productive, long term-term starter for an MTSU team that sorely lacked defensive playmakers.

4 - 100 - Caleb Benenoch - OL - UCLA - Long and athletic prospect could be in the mix at RG and RT. So much talent, but he's still a bit undersized and needs to add a bit more strength.

4 - 138 - Jeff Driskel - QB - La Tech - Shows impressive quickness and has what could be the best natural arm talent in the draft. His time at Florida was disastrous, he was never properly developed and he finally began to show his talent at La Tech. Might not be around here.

5 - 141 - Tyler Higbee - TE - WKU - Off-the-field trouble hurt his perception, but he's a heck of a prospect who can catch and block.

5 - 172 - Harlan Miller - CB - Southeast Louisiana - Undersized guy who plays with hype and has great cover skills. If they think he can put on some weight and develop his backpedal, he's a guy I really like in the future.

5 - 173 - De'Vondre Campbell - LB - Minnesota - The physical talent is NFL caliber, the instincts are what holds him back. He's got to dedicate himself to understanding defenses, but his talent cannot be questioned.

6 - 176 - Stephen Anderson - FB/TE - Cal - Noticed him while studying Goff, and he may well be a higher prospect. He can block well, and slides out of the backfield as a mismatch on linebackers.

7 - 223 - Delvon Simmons - DL - USC - Developmental DL prospect with long arms and power who you hope develops as a 5-tech.

@AZ_ Would 8 be too high for Darron Lee if Bosa, Buckner, Ramsey, Jack and Tunsil are all off the board and no one wants to trade up? Who do we take in that instance?

Never too early to take your guy, but you better be right.

This scenario would be unfortunate

Coming out of this draft with Treadwell & Thomas has been my damn dream.

Add Spence to them and I'll need to be revived
